triggs
And what a dreadful tactic that was... It's just complete bollocks, man. Trying to boil one of the best managers in world football down to that nonesense. He's quite obviously a very tactical manager, he sets his team out based on the opposition, that doesn't mean he's always bang on but it's how he does it. On the opposite end of the spectrum you have someone like Keegan who didn't really care much about tactics, it was just getting your players fit and attacking the opposition. I didn't say it was a dreadful tactic, just not something he should be lauded for
Cronky
Hazard has been a big miss for them recently. He was their main man at opening up defences. As for Mourinho, I've never liked his off-field behaviour, but he's proved his all-round managerial ability time and time again - tactics as well as motivational skills. He made a decision in that game and it worked, I just thought it was pretty odd of you to single it out as a negative.

He puts out the same side the majority of the time and they play the same way. He's not going to surprise you with his formation. The players. Against top sides they'll look to sit deep and counter with pace. Tactically, he does what he does. The thing he does better than others most is team building and inspiring belief in his players. I've never seen Sneijder play so consistently well for example. I know when he first came to Chelsea, playing a 3 man midfield blew people's minds. Neil
"It’s very difficult to play a football match where only one team wants to play, very difficult. A match is about two teams playing. This match was only one team playing and another team not." - Jose Mourinho, Jan 2014, after drawing 0-0 with West Ham.
SEMTEX
Jose Mourinho endlessly contradicts himself, and rather intentionally. You could write a book with his bullshit quotes. He's mint. He loves chatting shit. His billion pound teams play terrible winning football. Plenty of managers have had similar money and achieved a lot less. (But I won't be going out of my way to watch too many Chelsea games whilst he's in charge).
Lotus
It's like watching an updated version of George Graham's Arsenal. Dull as dishwater tbh.
loki679
It's Atletico not Athletico. Chelsea will need to be at their very best to beat Atleti The one big concern I had with Atleti

The College Dropout
Was thinking the injuries/suspensions might make for a more attacking side. But ivanovic in for Terry. Luiz stay at CM alongside Ramires. Oscar, Hazard and Willian and someone up top. I guess that's as attacking a side Mourinho would ever put out. Guest firetotheworks
In the same way as Ramires, he's not my type of player, but I can see the benefits of having him in your team.

The College Dropout
Willian is so boring. Ramires used to score/assist the odd breathtaking counter, running 50 yards and that. He's turned into a total thug this year.
TaylorJ_01
I think Willian gave the ball away 430 times last night. He offered nothing - even with the basic task of "run on the counter really fast".
The College Dropout
Surely Shurrle is better? Saying that I'm certain Willian will now score a screamer.
Flip
Willian is so boring. Ramires used to score/assist the odd breathtaking counter, running 50 yards and that. He's turned into a total thug this year. Willian is a very effective holder of the ball and excellent in keeping possession, unfortunately he doesn't really have an end product, or at least doesn't try that hard to score or make a decisive pass. I think Willian gave the ball away 430 times last night. He offered nothing - even with the basic task of "run on the counter really fast". Yet he had the fourth best passing success in the team. Only Cole, Cahill and Mikel were better in that department. Lampard, David Luiz, Ramires and Schurrle made 50% of their passes while Torres had the lowest pass success rating in the game. Only a fourth of his passes reached the right players By that I'm not defending Willian, just like the rest of the Chelsea side they horrible, but their best chance came from Willian breaking through in the middle only for Ramires to take the awfulest of touches wide and then hit it terribly across goal. The College Dropout
Think people are being harsh on Torres performance last night. A number of times he held the ball up well. Won some good freekicks. Unfortunately when he did have support he wasted it.
Flip
Also considering their gameplan, Chelsea players were spot on yesterday. Thought all of them defended extremely well. Only Torres doesn't get a good rating from me because he couldn't do his job up top, although he was quite isolated.
TaylorJ_01
4th best passing success in a team where the back 7 smashed it forward at random every time? That's arguably a bad stat.
