Keefaz
I gotcha. You could take a player's performance from a particular match! Like: Owen (v Argentina 98) or Beckham (v Greece 2001?) or Hargreaves (v Portugal 2006).
midds
Bryan Robson in his pomp was unbelievably good. Better than Lampard, Gerrard and Scholes imo. Fucking hard bastard too and a fantastic captain.
Ronaldo
Rooney over Owen? I know we all hate him but at his best Owen was sensational for England. In major tournaments and at knock out stages as well. Are you taking the piss?

broonalegeordie
To be honest, I've just been watching clips from Euro 96 and Italia 90 and realising how s*** the current England team is technically in comparison. In comparison yes but we still have a lot of technically gifted players in the squad these days. Only Ferdinand, the Coles, Beckham and Rooney stand up in comparison. Lampard is technically very good at playing the ball, but below the level you'd expect at bringing it under control and that will cost England again probably as it has done in the past. i cant believe carlton coles going to the world cup, never mind compare him to the quality of the euro 96 team

Incognito
Bryan Robson played under Graham Taylor so I'm sure he'll played after Italia 90. He'd lost it by then though hadn't he and played his last gamein 91. 86 always seemed to be his peak. Before that...he was always dislocating his shoulder in 85-86....indeed England only improved in World Cup '86 after he popped his shoulder and returned home and Wilkins got suspended. Village Idiot
Just tried to make a Spanish best XI, and there's no ways about it, most of it it's the current squad. We just have the best crop of players since the 1960s. Arkonada Ramos Puyol Alkorta Gordillo Senna Xavi Cesc Míchel Villa Silva So many great players left out, however. Hierro, Guerrero, Butragueño, Bakero, Valerón, Luís Enrique ( ), Nadal, Santillana, Guardiola... but they aren't as complete at this lot are. I put Villa instead of Torres since Villa has a better international record.
Coco
It's criminal that Le Tiss never really played for yous. He's easily one of the most talented English players. Ever. I mean, the man singlehandedly kept Southampton up, imagine what he could've done in a good side...

Village Idiot
Senna ahead of Guardiola? From a Barca fan?! He's too busy managing the side And I think he'd be overrun in this day and age. And let's face it, Xavi is a much better player than Pep was. The student surpassing the master.

I was considering that, and putting Bakero instead. Old school Basque tough-tackling midfielder with endless drive and energy. But Senna's better so I cheated. Actually Bakero started as a striker but was Alansmithed by Cruyff.
