I'd love to say Heskey but I feel people will never admit that he's a good player, possibly Peter Crouch, he's been the subject of ridicule so many times in his career, but he's actually very good. Darren Bent is a difficult one as his critics would never dispute that he can score goals, but they'd say he's not got the best touch and is not capable of making the next step up. Not sure he's silenced them on that one tbh. Darren Fletcher might be a better example, look at Man U fans' attitude to him a couple of years ago. He wasn't a success in La Liga either (not entirely his fault), and his venture in LA has been mixed to say the least. They are managers, but I'd say Van Gaal and McLaren.
