Carlisle United 0-3 Newcastle United - 17/07/10

Recommended Posts

The 2nd half team was streets ahead of the first half team.

They looked comfortable on the ball, neat, tidy, worked together well and if it'd been at the other end of pre-season, I reckon they could have scored a fair few more as well.

The first half side on the other hand looked a bit off the pace, uncomfortable and a bit lost.

Barton was like a man on a mission, Routledge looked streets ahead of everyone else on the pitch. Was ever so slightly impressed with Best (minus the total airkick  ).

Banter was good as well. The geordie vuvuzela was fucking legendary, as was the exchange between a few of our fans and this Carlisle bloke across the stand - "We pay your beneeefits"

Everyone in the pub after the Red v Blue game was paying tribute to Chris Hughton's half black half white hair. Its not intermingled colour changes, its straight line down the middle, one half black, one half white - dedicated.

Hopefully that second half midfield is our first choice with Jonas coming in for vuckic (unless of course he impresses enough in pre-season to give Jonas a real fight to get it back).

Routledge was the best player on the pitch by a country mile btw. Vuckic looked promising and Barton was neat and tidy. Perch did well against rubbish opposition. Overall we were far better second half.

Whereabouts were you Dave?

Btw at one point Enrique pinged the new ball up the field and we were right behind it. It moves all over the place. Looks like it has that classic pattern on it in motion though so it's not all bad news.

Anyone else finding that the referee is looking a bit like Steve Harper?

Not sure, but it looks like he has one black arm and one white arm.
