Newcastle United v Aston Villa (the season starts here, maybe)

Recommended Posts

I've got a good feeling about this one. Dunno why.

Same. Mind with 4-4-2 and a decent lineup, I reckon we'll be a test for most teams at SJP this season.

Morale is going to be a big thing this season. If we get a tonking this week we'll struggle but if we string a couple of decent results together at home (possible given our fixtures) it will stand us in good stead.

Aye, Wolves after this and Blackpool at home.  I would like to think we'd have 5 points at least from our next 3 fixtures.

Based on that:

                     Harper

Perch  Colocinni  Williamson  Enrique

Routledge  Nolan  Barton  Jonas

         Carroll  Lovenkrands

Even better if we can get Guthrie in there.

Thats what i'm expecting too. I agree Guthrie would improve things in the center taking Nolan's place but can't see CH dropping Nolan. If he starts old cloggers Smith and Nolan i can't see us winning and we may even get hammered.

It would be better if we could replace Perch too with Tavernier or R Taylor but again its doubtfull.

Ben Arfa and Rios amongst others in there would be better still! Pull your finger out fat Mike!

Villa fan in peace. Our squad has been announced as:

Friedel, Guzan, Warnock, Dunne, Davies, Beye, L Young, Albrighton, Reo-Coker, Petrov, Ireland, Downing, A Young, Carew, Bannan, Delfouneso, Hogg, Heskey, Osbourne, Clark, Lowry, Baker.

Pity Gabby's not fit. The team will will probably pan out as

Friedel

L Young Dunne Clark Warnock

Albrighton Petrov Ireland Downing

A Young

Carew

Always liked Newcastle - my step daughter is at Uni there - so I find all this childish "we'll put your teeth down your throat" stuff a bit  :nope:. It's only a fooking game.

Here's to a good game, and here's hoping for a Villa win.  :smitten:

If that's how Villa line-up, playing two strikers is a must.

Agreed, i fancy Carroll in the air against those two CB's. We can't expect Carroll to do it all on his own though he needs support and Lovenkrands should be the man to support him as unfortunately he's the best we have for that position, untill Arfa gets here on the 31st. Big Mike w who looks comanding i the air thus far has his work cut out for him marking Carew who i have a feeling will score against us again.

It'll be unchanged from Man Utd then if Loven & Guthrie are out again-

                                     Harper

            Perch       Williamson   Coloccini      Enrique

          Routledge    Barton        Smith         Jonas

                              Nolan ©

                                                Carroll

0-0

so it's either

Harper

Perch Will Colo Jose

Routledge Smith Barton Guti

Nolan

Carroll

or

Harper

Perch Will Colo Jose

Routledge Nolan  Barton Guti

Shola Caroll

Neither look very good tbh. as things stand 0-1 defeat. we won't be able to score

EDIT- it would be Nolan in for Smith in line up two wouldn't it?

Nervous about this game, we need a win but it could be easily be a loss.  Villa are dangerous, loads of pace.  Being at home is what might see us through it.  Would take a draw now if I could.

I cant wait for the day we don't have to name Harper, Perch, Nolan, and Shola in our predicted line-ups!

:sadnod:

Not sure about harps though, I think he has been alright (he has got slower in reflexes but is better than krul judgement wise)

yes but we aren't playing till Sunday.  if they get through tomorrows session then they will be ok to play.
