That's 80 000 a week. And that is too much considering he's just performed half a season in PL. And he's young and likes to drink, that also may hamper his career. It was most likely he was on a tiny wage compared to the rest, a long term deal on more realistic terms was fully deserved i agree Yes, I suspect he was on a tiny wage since he was pretty unknown. Probably better update his contract now than in the summer when there'll be other clubs offering him stuff. Also a PR move for you and the other players nearing the end of their contracts. But That depends on supply and demand in the market.
