Realistic Transfer Targets January 2011

Recommended Posts

frm seeing whelan play for ireland hes a combative midfielder alright

he has limited passing-plenty of sideways action going on, and isnt very creative.

you will get 100% from him and he does get around the pitch.

Has a eye for goal..scored a few long range goals including Vs italy

would not like so see us pay more thatn 1m for him

would much rather hammil..seems to fit the transfer policy and can cover either wing

Equipe linking us and Liverpool with Sylvain Marveaux a 24 year old French midfielder. He's out for the season so would be for next season I'd imagine.

Quotes from El Arabi in 'Maroc Journal' that he's had contact from Newcastle and Sevilla but is concentrating on Caen for the time being. Just noticed that his club manager is Franck Dumas.

Transfer frenzy is off limits says Pardew

Jan 9 2011 by Mark Douglas, Sunday Sun

ALAN PARDEW has doused talk of major transfer business this January by saying Newcastle United’s recruitment drive will be limited to a maximum of TWO players.

Pardew’s pursuit of Birmingham winger Seb Larsson is proving a slow burner with the Swede reluctant to call time on his Blues career.

And with finance complicating moves for David Bentley and Shaun Wright-Phillips, Pardew may have to look elsewhere for the wide man he wants to bring in.

“We are probably only looking at bringing one player in. Maybe we’ll bring in two – but it definitely won’t be more than two,” Pardew told the Sunday Sun.

“Whether it is a loan or a permanent move really depends on the negotiations and the type of player we manage to get. If we manage to get our No 1 target it will affect another deal we might have been working on.

“But we’re not going to throw money at this window. We’ve made that clear to agents, players and clubs, and I think Newcastle fans will appreciate that.

“We’re going to try and do things in a way that will protect the squad we’ve got – if we don’t do that we’ve got all sorts of problems.”

Pardew admitted to interest in Roque Santa Cruz but says that it is unlikely a deal will be thrashed out in this window. That will not discourage him from trying to land Manchester City players, though.

“I think (Santa Cruz) is a good player but I don’t know if the circumstances and the timing is right for us on that one,” he said.

“We have looked everywhere for new players. You have to make sure you don’t miss anyone.”

Meanwhile, the Toon boss has opened the door for some of his fringe men to depart – but only on the right terms.

Pardew says there will be no January exit for Alan Smith – who is interesting Leeds – or James Perch, who has been pushed down the pecking order by the return of Danny Simpson to full fitness.

“There are a couple of squad players at the club who haven’t featured much who may get a chance to move on,” he said. “If we think that is better for them we may need to replace them – and that could happen.

“I wouldn’t want someone like James (Perch) to leave. I think he’s a good character and his Newcastle career has really only just begun.”

We'll get no one, then Pardew will say that Ben Arfa was our signing we always wanted and that the window's been a huge success.

Gosling = New signing
