Bolton 5 - 1 Newcastle United - 20/11/10 - post match reaction from page 32

Every Newcastle defeat is celebrated on Wearside with gusto. Even if they lose tomorrow night they'll still be happy because we lost.

I'm not sure what's funnier, the fact their world revolves around ours or their attempts to make out it doesn't.

I didn't see or listen to the match, but from the MOTD highlights it seemed the result flattered Bolton pretty seriously.

Both of their pens were dubious, the second one obviously wrong, a lucky goal from Lee (who was possibly offside) and others we should hav defended quite easily.

Colo needs to simplify his game against strong opponents... he can't expect to outplay every forward in the league. And we obviously miss Tiote a hell of a lot.

When our defenders have the ball with three opposition players around them in our own area, they try and pass, dribble and skin their way out of it.

When the fuckers have it under no pressure, they hoof it to Carroll.

well after such a bad weekend at least the one plus point is that none of the bottom 4 in the league won so we still have a little cushion on the relegation places.  Just a pity 5th bottom Blackburn won.

Plus point 2, Carroll still scoring. At least his confidence will keep going up.

Not seen the 'highlights' of this yet so I'm glad it's the subject of one of those ridiculously cringeworthy special pieces on MOTD2.

BBC is crying out for a specialised MOTD with some tactical analysis a la The Last Word. Instead they serve up this chummy comedy guff.

They're 2 different extremes.  The Last Word is almost unbearable the way they slow everything down.

I agree that Last Word is OTT but I would prefer more analysis and less of this empty chinwagging from the likes of Lee bloody Dixon.

Andy Gray is an almighty cock but I agree, I'd prefer listening to him than insipid shite like Keown, Dixon and Shearer. Don't agree with a lot of what Gray says but at least he has some vaguely interesting things to point out.

Tbh there's not much wrong with MOTD on a Saturday imo.  Aye, it's not perfect but it's basically what I'm after as a means of seeing the best action from the day's games.

I'd quite like to see MOTD2 cover Saturday's games in a touch more depth tbh and I agree with you about the 'comedy' stuff.  It wasn't bad when Chiles did it (partly because it was fairly novel at the time) but they're now just trying to be funny for the sake of it, which is rubbish.

I prefer him to the ones mentioned as well, but The Last Word is absolutely mental.  It's the most annoying thing ever to watch that when you haven't already seen the games - he pauses footage of a goal about 5 or 6 times to the extent that you're either screaming "just show me the fucking goal!" or you give up on it.

Andy Gray demonstrating dangerous tackles on Richard Keys was a bit bizarre, especially as it on that daft square of astro-turf they have in the corner.

Would've been funny if he'd just have launched into a 2 footed challenge on him.

Don't know who else watched the match here in the States but who were the commentators?  They were the two worst commentators I've heard in a long time.  Pretty much clueless.

Yeah, probably the same two who were on over here in OZ. They will probably have been the commentators from the football first highlights. Slightly biased, clearly building Bolton up from the start and have Kevin Davies down as Englands no 1 centre forward.

Haven't read some of the thread so not sure whether it's been mentioned, but is Owne Coyle starting to become a less orange parody of Phil Brown??

All of the jumping around in the 'technical area', the stupid grins and smirks and the over the top dramatics are really annoying and show a lack of respect. He's obviously done a good job at Bolton but he's rapidly turning into someone I'll take great pleasure in seeing his press conf when he eventually does get the boot.

The only good thing from this game was at half time when the cheerleaders were a bit clueless and did nothing, so as the dance music was blaring, the away end started dancing instead :)

A bloke next to us stripped down to his kegs and started dancing on the stairs. I'll upload the video in a bit.

I know the lad and was talking to him last night!
