“I wouldn’t want someone like James (Perch) to leave. I think he’s a good character and his Newcastle career has really only just begun.”

God help us.

Exactly. God, why doesn't he just say "James is a terrible footballer. The sooner we fuck him off, the better." I mean that'll really help the guy

At a guess he was answering a particular question about Perch.

When asked a direct question about Perch? Nope.

Exactly. It's highly doubtful that he came out and said "Right, I want to talk about Perch..."

Funny, Hughton managed to deflect questions well enough. He could have said empty words that didn't make a concrete statement such as "I want to keep Perch" - the same he did when asked about Sol, funnily enough.

James is an ever- present in the side and he has to put what has happened behind him. Nobody will feel worse about Sunday than James.”

“These things happen, and the only way to put them behind you is by bouncing back.”

“It is one mistake and everybody makes them in life, not just football.”  “We know he has the strength of character and he will now move on to the next game.”

Doesn't sound like empty words to me.

The first one is merely stating a fact. Who else was there, at the time? Simpson was injured and R.Taylor shit.

The second one is praise for his character, which is nowhere near as concrete a statement as "he's staying". I'd say that Nicky Butt "has character", it doesn't mean I think he's any good.

“The goalkeeper had a problem kicking the ball, he seemed to be shanking a lot of kicks.”  “That was putting us under a lot of pressure.

“That was not the sort of standard we expect from Newcastle and what I expect as a manager.”

Shut it, twat. Miss Hughton as far as comments in media goes.

Alan Pardew: Red card was the turning point

Pardew told the Chronicle: “At 1-0 or 2-0, you’re in the game, and the sending-off was significant.

...

“I know these players – they looked shot, to be honest.

“We talked about it, but we couldn’t produce what we needed.

“We just couldn’t match the energy Stevenage had. We looked tired as a group".

So being 2-0 down with less than 20 minutes to go against a Division 4 team was not a big problem, as there was a good chance our team of shot, tired players could have suddenly begun to outfight their highly motivated opposition. It was the sending off which ended our hopes.

Just shut up. Learn from Hughton and stop saying embarrassing things. Nobody will hold it against you, nobody dislikes a silent winner. So shut up, and if you're as good as you think you are, you'll be alright.

Pardew just likes to talk about football... he's more comfortable with the press so he's more conversational with them.

I don't see how there's anything wrong with that quote, he says we couldn't match Stevenage and that we looked shot, he's just also saying the sending off hurt us.

"we looked tired as a group"

So why did he pick nolan, simpson, lovenkrands and barton who played 90 minutes on wednesday, when there was guthrie, kadar, ranger and ferguson on the bench?

Let's face it, Pardew is a stonewall prick and deserves nothing but contempt, not for the result, but for these pathetic excuses.
