Routledge's final ball is just awful, Tiote was again immense, prepare for a few bids for him this month.

Infact our midfield bossed the game.

Shola.....

Warnock was the MOTD2 pundit when we beat the unwashed 3-2 back in 05. I clearly remember him saying that Shola had 'every attribute going' and would be a hell of a player one day.

*On the subject of pundits and Shola, when we played City (a) this season, a certain ESPN 'expert' said Shola had 'lots of pace.' Name him.

Harper 7 - Made 1 save that he was called upon to make.

Simpson 7 - Becoming really impressed with this lad. Another solid display.

Taylor 7 - Decent display aside from his hairy moment with the handball. Should have scored.

Colo 8 - Another cracking display and what a goal he almost scored.

Enrique 7 - Nothing spectacular, but we're so much better with him in the team. Solid defensively and gives us a lot going forward.

Barton 8 - Delivery was top class, should never have been booked.

Nolan 6 - Didn't see a lot from him today, but you can see the influence he has on the side from a leadership standpoint.

Tiote 9 - Top class. Shame those pricks on MOTD only focused on his playacting. Signing of the season, won everything once again.

Jonas 6 - Argh Jonas man, full of running but really should have scored when one on one with keeper. Decent display.

Ameobi 7 - Missed a sitter, right place at right time for the tap in. Lead the line really well, linked well with Lovenkrands.

Lovenkrands 6 - Got in decent positions with his movement and did well with the assist.

Routledge 5 - Tore whoever their fullback was a new arsehole but still no final ball.

Best 5 - This guy is never going to score a fucking goal if he can't put those chances away.

Smith 5 - One very good tackle, not much else.

Pardew 8 - Got it spot on up front which was the main conundrum. Rest of the team picked itself, Wigan didn't really create much for the keeper change to really make a difference. Did well using the squad and packing the midfield to see the game out.

Good, scrappy win. Another on Wednesday and we're well on our way.

To be honest I thought Enrique struggled to mark Gomez, he just seemed a bit hungover

Enrique said that he missed the Spurs game because he tried too hard against Man City, he was clearly keeping something back for Wednesday.

I find it very impressive that after a win today, that there is almost 90 percent more energy used on complaining on various players in other threads, when in fact most of our gritty match wins like today has been down to a team performance rather then individual.

An astute observation.

Half season played and we're at a 10th spot, would imagine that could/should've brought out more positivety then what is currently in the forum.

People have vendettas that need maintaining, man. How else will they look cool when mistakes are made?  ???

It's high expectations. Hence why Routledge and Lovenkrands are regarded as shit on here, because the former doesn't create a chance with every cross and the latter doesn't score with every touch.

If we'd lost today we'd have been right in trouble; instead the margins in the league are so small that we jumped right up the league. Finishing 10th would be fantastic but it's a bit of a joke to suggest people are being overly negative at this stage.

We just beat one of, if not the worst team in the league. Great, and a vital three points, but it makes a shitload of sense not to get carried away.

If Lovenkrands scored with every touch he'd end up with almost 20 goals a season, nobody expects that.
