Going to go out on a limb and say he will be s*** for us as a right midfielder. If its 1.5 Million then it's not the biggest risk and a supposed promising young player for a cheap price isn't bad business.

Agree with everything except the young and promising part. Turning 26 this year like.

Who exactly do you suggest we sign instead of him, for the same amount of money?

Stating facts tbh. Nothing more in it.

But to answer, I'd prefer an exciting Carr-scouted player.

Well, no, you're stating your opinion, as has been evident throughout the thread.

How do you know it isn't Carr that recommended we sign Larsson?

Why would he recommend a team mate to one of his former clubs that nearly drove him into early retirement?

idiot...

Oh dear.  :mackems:

if we can have Larsson on the right for the mackems game and play Barton and Nolan in the middle i'll be very pleased. Keeps Smith/Guthrie out of the side.

Agree with this but cant see Pardew playing nolan and Barton together in the middle away from home.

Neither can I but the alternatives are Guthrie and Smith, both poor tacklers, so I don't really see what he's got to lose.

Larsson apparently on £10,000 a week at Birmingham. Unreal. Smith earns 6 times as much! What a world ...

Are you trying to imply that Alan Smith is not six times the player that Larsson is??!  :idiot2:

But yes on a serious note that is indeed madness. Would love to see Larsson here, he probably wouldn't get into what seems to be the first choice midfield of Barton-Nolan-Tiote-Jonas but he would be the best option we have as cover and would be likely to see plenty of pitch time. I'd like to think that him and Gosling would be a step  up from Smith and Guthrie.

Larsson and Gosling back means Smith and Guthrie further away, great news tbh

What is the point of keeping them though, we are going to have 12 midfielders at this rate.  But still only 1 left back at the club, squad imbalance will cost us.

Don't know much about him but just happy to get bodies in coz our squad depth (shallow) is terrible! Have a feeling that HBA + Seb might conclude our Jan transfer, would like at least 1-2 more players but I guess we have to be realistic, we don't have much money. This is still better than the expectation of those that were adamant that Pardew was brought in so that we don't have to buy in January.

No better than Guthrie imo, except he takes a better set-piece.

He's better than Guthrie, man

He's been up and down divisions with Birmingham and lingering about mid-table with them in the PL, man. He's poor. I'll happily accept being proved wrong if he does the business with us.

However, I'll forever rate him if he broke Ranger's neck.
