sempuki
Chronicle well and truly back in the club's back pocket and helping pave the way for a Carver announcement after the Southampton game. b******s, the lot of them. Looking very bad this.
BlueStar
John Carver saw disaster coming for Newcastle with Graeme Souness - he doesn't want a repeat http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/john-carver-saw-disaster-coming-8456308 It's f***ing relentless like. Pissing me off man trading one knacker for another Lee Ryder and the rest of them in the local media are just utter bunch of cunts - how anyone with anyone can seriously suggest appointing Carver as the best possibility for the club demonstrates a total lack of knowledge on football (though in Ryder's case we already knew this). It's not the best for the club, but it's best for the Chronicle - Carver's given them three stories worth of quotes just today and he'll always be willing to meet Ryder in the Newcastle Arms and give him some shit to put on the back page. Compare to someone like Garde "Remi! Rems! Remi! It's Lee, how are you preparing for the Villa game?" "Qui?"
AyeDubbleYoo
Yup, it is worrying the amount of press they are giving him. I'm fully back to fear mode now Are The Chronicle not banned any more? Seems to me they're more likely to just be writing whatever guff comes to mind on a daily basis. I seriously doubt they have much (if any) actual knowledge about what's going on. Mattoon
It is worrying but I'm trying to believe we're not that stupid, though I'm probably setting myself up for more disappointment. I doubt the Chronic know much to be honest (do they ever?). The not knowing just makes you fear the worst and I think we've still got a couple of weeks to wait for any kind of confirmation from the club. The ban was lifted in December (http://www.pressgazette.co.uk/newcastle-united-lifts-ban-local-press-telegraph-journalists-remain-barred). It's not far fetched at all to believe that they have been given a heads up that an announcement is imminent and to start spreading pro-Carver stuff imho. The Bishop knows exactly what he is doing. steve_69
I'd still rather have him than Pardew but given the opportunity we have to make a really progressive appointment, it would be an enormous kick in the testies
loki679
In terms of the media, Carver will be putting as much drivel out to them as he can to keep himself in the frame. They're not going to say no and just not run it. If anything it gives me hope because if Carver thought he was seriously in the running there'd be no need for his little media barrage. All depends if it is his little media barrage, or the club's. The quotes are obviously from the pre-match presser, but the fact that the local newspapers issue article after article on them without even questioning if such an appointment would be befitting of a club of Newcastle's stature tells its own story really. John Carver for Newcastle manager man, any self respecting journalist should be tearing him a new one for having ideas above his station, but there's been none of that, which strongly suggests they (the local media) are on a very tight leash indeed. KaKa
We need to get absolutely torn to pieces and battered to bits tomorrow now. It has to be made impossible for them to hire him.
AyeDubbleYoo
going to kill something if Carver gets the job. It might be time to stop supporting Newcastle TBH. buzza
If we are a little bit objective here and remove our post match southampton bias, the bloke really does tick a lot of the boxes for NUFC: -Knows the club inside out -Big fan of Bobby's football -Has been a "coach" for a long time -Wants to play the game in his own manner (positive - going on his quotes), hopefully not setting up to defend and win in last 20!!! -Is an Ashley sycophant

He talks about Souness regime as if he wouldn't totally ruin us in that way if he got the job. Now we may all be totally wrong about him and he may well have a sound football philosophy and being at the club he loves will trigger it, but I think we all know that's not going to be the case and he is just a rambling fuckpig who holds Pardew in the same regard as Bobby and Keegan probably. 2 managers that you believed when they spoke and results and performance showed how class they were

It's a lot different than actually managing the team I would imagine

steve_69
Clearly none of these idiots give a shit about the welfare of Newcastle United. They just want to see their mate get a decent job

Carver is a mistake, a big mistake and if your trying to rationalise an argument against that you need your head checked! We deserve better and should absolutely be aiming higher. Yeah, I'm really not trying to rationalise I reckon it would be catastrophic. When Souness was appointed I called it, sat with my mate I said he would put us back 10 years, it was worse than appointing Dogleash after Keegan. Going from a forward thinking progressive manager to defensive boring shit was never going to work. We have the opportunity to do it the other way around again and I hope to fuck we choose well
BlueStar
Would be massively underwhelming and unapologetically unambitious. Seeing as those words are pretty much inscribed in latin under our crest, that makes him a pretty likely appointment.
