JH
Women shouldnt be running the line in mens football anyway. Well this is bollocks. If she does a better job than a bloke can do she should be there, simple as that. She certainly looked more competent yesterday than a lot of officials I've seen this season. Must say, the decision on Mereles for Torres' goal was absolutely spot on.
LucaAltieri
The funny thing is...she made an offside decision in that game that was actually bang on. The commentators on BBC sounded condescending until they saw the replay. They should be punished for it as it is bigoted but others are right about it being the other way around and men wouldn't care. We see hypocrisy in racism, sexism and ageism all the time. This "men wouldn't care" argument is nonsense, by the way. Men haven't had years of being treated as second class citizens. White, English blokes are rarely the oppressed. It's completely different. No it isn't. We live in an equal society, we should be treated equally. So please do shut up. Nope. We don't actually live in an equal society. Women are paid less, on average, for doing the same jobs. There are fewer women CEOs in business, etc and often get less recognition. The dismissive attitude of these two clowns is a symptom of that exact same discrimination. Remind me again... how many female referee's assistants there are in the football league? I think we can agree, it's not exactly a level playing field.
Minhosa
They're both allowed to air an opinion in a supposed private conversation. Much ado about nothing iyam. What if it had been a racist opinion? Then it still would have been a private conversation and if people in the room had a problem with it they could have taken the opportunity to re-educate them to their face as opposed to stitch them up by recording and publicising a private conversation. I'm not big fans of either of them tbh but I do think this is a load of hot air.
Foluwashola
They are offhand remarks and if anyone on here attempts to claim they haven't said similar down the pub then I'm a Scotsman called McTavish.

ponsaelius
I'd like to link this to the woman commentator, who I think is dire. Nowt to do with her sex, purely because I don't think here voice or style is suited to or adequate enough for television broadcasting. If the lass official in question here was rubbish at her job, then there'd be adequate grounds for complaint. However she clearly isn't, hence why the comments from them two without any actual evidence to back it up is embarrassing.
Guest toonlass
Not surprised by this at all. Andy Grey and Richard Keys are two of the most pompous twats in football. In general I still hear the "women shouldn't be at football games" crap. She has obviously got the required qualifications to run the line and has some bottle to do it too. gdm
Imagine if Loose Women said men can't iron though, and make sexist remarks about that - we really wouldn't give a fuck would we? We would just say it's a woman's job anyway. what a shit comparison.

I think we can agree, it's not exactly a level playing field. That's just so the pitches drain the rainwater off better mate. Sexism isn't right, just like racism isn't. The whole job bollocks is down to sexism from older people in higher positions, it's only really became an 'equal' society in the last 20/30 years so the change was never going to be radical. I'm sure there are many contributory factors we can consider which would give good reason as to why there aren't as many women in high positions. LucaAltieri
Luca...you're being ignorant if you think men react to the typical female sexism in the same way women do to chauvinistic blokes. My point isn't white males are oppressed...don't know why you made that up. My point is the hypocrisy is there. But I also stated these two should be pulled up on it. And nobody has a right to play the martyr over history's wrong doings. One of the world's biggest obstacles to equality is retards citing history that they didn't experience. In fact it's insulting to those who went through the struggle. I don't disagree that men wouldn't care. I know they wouldn't care. It's just a complete non sequitur. We have no reason to care. We were never the oppressed to being with. It changes our outlook. Also, sexism isn't ancient history, it's still on-going for all the reasons I mentioned above. Gray & Keys are criticising a ref assistant's ability... not on the basis of her performance, or track record, or anything like that, just purely BECAUSE she's a woman. It's bigoted nonsense and shows that "the struggle" you mentioned isn't actually over, is it? I highly doubt I'd have any suffragettes tutting at me for pointing it out either. wormy
I think it's one of the most entertaining things I've ever known either of those 2 to do tbh What they said was stupid, but Foluwa is right, we've all said stupid shit like that. It's unfortunate for them that they've been caught out on it, but it happens. Personally, in the issue of sexism in general, women don't always help their case. The guff of Loose Women, Karen Brady and the like don't exactly do them good. Personally, those stupid kind of bints that turn every single thing to sexism just makes me resent the sexism argument. ponsaelius
There's sense in men getting certain jobs and positions, you can't compare it to racism. Definitely. Don't think there's any reason for men to get officiating jobs ahead of women though, there is no genetic or educational advantage. Best person for the job at all times. I've seen enough shocking officials over the years to say it's worth a go expanding the labour supply to include females. It's only likely to increase the number of quality refs/assistants.
