Espio Posted March 31, 2011 Share Posted March 31, 2011 Dunno if this has been mentioned like but Newcastle have confirmed that they will face Sporting Kansas City in a friendly on 20th July. The match will take place at Livestrong Sporting Park in Kansas, offering the Magpies an opportunity to further their image in the United States of America. Kansas should provide competitive opposition for Alan Pardew's side, having seen off Premier League foes in the past. The MLS outfit beat Manchester United at Arrowhead Stadium last season, in front of the largest crowd to ever attend a football match in Kansas. Pardew is excited by the prospect of taking his side to the States and is confident the fixture will be of benefit to his players during their pre-season preparations. Challenge He said: "We're planning a few days training in Kansas before the game which form an integral part of our build-up for the 2011/12 season. "I know Manchester United were in Kansas last year, and went home beaten, so we know full well what a tough game it'll be for us, but that's exactly the sort of challenge we'll be looking for." Newcastle's appearance at Livestrong Sporting Park will represent the second international event to be staged at the stadium, which is currently under construction. The state-of-the-art venue is the newest soccer-specific stadium in the MLS and will play host to a 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup double-header, featuring the USA national side, on 14th June. Supposed to be 1st couple of weeks in August but trying to change.
