This, on top, of having a team full of players who are already shit and completely unsuited for top flight football has resulted in what we see today. I'm at pains to say it because it was a bullshit excuse that was trotted out for Pardew, but his hands are pretty tied IMO. Of all the players we signed in that Sissoko January - the only consistent performer for us warms the bench for Arsenal. Carr's signed nearly all the players for this squad. Not a decent CM in the lot. Not a decent LB in the lot. Not a commanding CB in the lot. Not a proven PL goalscorer in the lot. About 6, #10's. Good players are sold on as well. IMO we had good foundations to build on at the start of 13/14 and only desperately needed a commanding center back at that point and then depth. 2 years later everyone that was decent (or at least superior to now) in that team has gone. Remy, Cabaye, HBA, Debuchy, Santon and yet we still have the same terrible central defense that needed to be changed even when the rest of the team was decent. McClaren came in and lauded Colo when he was clearly past it too. I don't think Carr is free from blame by any means, but I certainly think he's the only one with a valid excuse.
