AyeDubbleYoo
just interviewed on 5 live, what a tit. interviewer asked him about footballing style and he replies with a list of flair players he had at bolton and finished with 'we played that particular way did we?' then in the next breath starts saying that west ham will play the way they need to relating to how good the players are and that everyone needs to accept that they've been relegated etc etc utter charlatan. Nicely summed up, can't stand the guy.
Guest Stephen927
Good appointment, he'll bring them back up. Won't be long before their fans are complaining and gates start to drop though, I'd imagine.

It's true though, we didn't exclusively play long-ball football the first 5 years of his tenure. The last 2 years though were pretty dodgy football-wise, but as we were finishing top 8 every season, no-one was really complaining.
Guest Stephen927
How much did Bolton spend every season while Allardyce was there? You can't expect carpet football on a budget, he did very well keeping them there for so long, and so high up the table.

Yeah, obviously fans are prepared to put up with pretty much anything as long as they're successful. The problem with his time here was that we were playing shit and getting shit results. Guest Stephen927
He should definitely have adapted his tactics here, like he said he would before he took the job.
AyeDubbleYoo
I don't think it was even his style of football really, it was just his crazy negative approach against teams we should have been smashing. For all his faults, one thing you can say about Pards is that he believes we can win.

Blackpool had a way, way smaller budget then Bolton ever had, smallest wage structure in the prem and almost made it. Just about proved it, that dont you have to play awful football to stay up. WBA, yeah they have been up and down but dont forget they've had some total knackers in charge of them over the years. Megson and Robson. This season they have played some great football at times and finished the season well. Also with a small budget.

You can't expect carpet football on a budget, he did very well keeping them there for so long, and so high up the table. We spent hardly anything for the first five years of his tenure, instead spending it on high wages for older players and frees (Djorkaeff, Campo, Hierro, Okocha to name a few). By the time we were spending money on the likes of Anelka and Diouf though in 2005/2006 our football had pretty much reverted to hoofing.

For all his faults, one thing you can say about Pards is that he believes we can win. Wasn't it Pardew's West Ham who won 0-5 at Derby, whereas we played for a 0-0 and got beat? EDIT: Or was it Curbishley? Either way: Allardyce trying to get draws away at newly promoted sides = pathetic and shit
Tisd09
He was found out at Newcastle. No doubt he was a success at Bolton, his style may have been boring etc, but to do what he did with Bolton you have to give him credit, but since then he has been poor. Such an arrogant man and seems to be one of the untouchables in management, maybe something to do with being good friends with red nose Fergie? I don't like West Ham and I don't like Fat Sam, they can rot IMO. I don't think they can go back up, there are a lot of changes needed, then again I assume loads of people were saying the same about us when we went down. NG32
Theres a reason why the hoofing managers are getting the chop in the prem, its because it turns fans away. I predict, fat turd wont last long at west ham.
AyeDubbleYoo
I like West Ham as a club for some reason, feel a bit sorry for their fans at the moment.
Dokko
And their fans were lifeless and bored last season... He will get them up, but once they are up they will start looking elsewhere after a season of dire football.

mattypnufc
Either way, as much as I'm not a fan of the 'orrible 'ammers, I wouldn't inflict Sam Allardyce on the mackems, let alone West Ham.
