I wish PSG would calm down with bringing in all of these world class players. It is only France. The league has a lot of talent, but no other side is even attempting to compete with them. The team that won the title this year started John Utaka in 34 matches, for God's sake. They don't actually need all of the best players in the world to compete.

Sort of glad he's not coming to Man City to make their defense impregnable, sort of sorry to see him essentially join a league where he won't be challenged and obviously for the money

He'll just get fat like Adriano/Ronaldinho/Every other Brazilian footballer who has made a few bob. The circle of life cannot be changed.

Very true, because there is no attacking player in France that will be a challenge on the level of Shola Ameobi, Emile Heskey, or Franco Di Santo.

Thing is that only implies to Brazilian attackers, defenders dont seem to go down the some route....

Ah you see that's simply because Thiago Silva is the only competent defender Brazil has ever produced

But they're obviously going to be aiming for Europe as well? :dontknow:

 fair point, but I do think defenders have a more brusing time of it in the premier league, perhaps in Spain they need to be more elegant tackling to avoid bookings. Not sure about France, maybe it is a haven of good defending.

I remember a Brazilian defender who had a piece of garlic in his socks and he used to eat some of it during the games and breathe on the opponents. He was competent.

Lucio has been one of the best defenders of his generation TBH.

Was just about to say this

Bottled it by playing in a mediocre league his entire career.

Pele would be pretty average if he played today tbqh

The best players from the 1950's in any sport involving physicality would struggle today.

What about those same players developing with modern coaching, training techniques, diet etc?

(sure we've done this one before )
