Yohan Cabaye

Recommended Posts

He seemed proud that the new role he has given Cabaye this season has improved him and built his confidence but the little grin came when he said how it has even increased his value.

What an absolute slime ball. I can imagine him going around mouthing off about how he made Cabaye the player he is now.

I don't think Cabaye has improved because of his new role. If anything I think he's less suited to it than playing deeper... seems lost a lot of the time IMO.

He does, surprised some might think this is his best position. Lacks that bit of skill and movement for me. Much prefer him deeper where he can control the game and look up and pick the passes out.

He doesn't have the agility or ability to explode away from his marker in that position to be successful against teams who will limit the space.

His best role is in between Tiote and where he plays at the moment, sadly we never got a player who could fulfill that role with agility and ability to escape markers in tight spaces.

Marveaux was the closest but Pardew never really trusted him.

I think he'd be far better in the deeper role for a continental team. He tends to commit a lot of fouls when he's asked to do that role in English football because of the pace the game's played at here.

Fair point about the freekicks, hadn't thought of that.

As long as we have their eyes out fee wise I couldn't care less. He's a very good player, arguably our best; but he's a dirty, petulant horrible little cunt and after his antics at the start of the season I haven't been able to get fully behind him. Was always a when not if after that, just wanted him to play well and raise the fee, which he's done.

Don't want players who don't want to be here giving their all, we've had enough of them over the years, usually at our cost, at least this time we make something out of it.

No ill feelings, no sadness, just nowt really.

He doesn't he lacks that bit of skill just to skip away from a man or a quick turn away like a Mata/Oscar, the movement/agility/skill isn't up to the level it should be at for that position. He has the vision for the role and accuaracy of passing/shooting but he struggles to get himself in the game enough. If you compare him with other number 10's who are a class act it's plain to see cabaye falls short. In a deeper role, he has the attributes to compete with the best.

Sell him for £25m, sign Will Hughes for £10m.

Ashley makes some money and looks like the super businessman that he is.

Cabaye goes to a club who wants to win stuff.

Pardew gets a player who isn't likely to drag us into those pesky European spots.

Hughes gets to play in the premiership at a big ground with big crowds.

Then when Hughes gets ideas above his station and wants to win things we can repeat the process.

Everyone wins!!!
