Guest
Of course their coach is going to say he relies on him. He'll be wanting to keep him happy and big up his importance to save him the bother of trying to convince another striker as good as Erding to sign for them and sit on the bench. Away Toon
Décevants, Erding et Luyindula n'ont pas marqué de points face à New York et pourraient se rapprocher de la sortie avant la fin de la période des transferts. L'Equipe basically says that Erding and Luyindula were shit and they could well be on their way out before the window closes

Guest BooBoo
Today's agent quotes suggest we're no further forward. We've wasted an awful long time on this lad. I really hope there's other potential deals going on behind the scenes or we're going to end up looking very stupid.
Skirge
PSG are keen to keep hold of Mevlut Erdinc Jul 31 2011 by Mark Douglas, Sunday Sun NEWCASTLE’S striker hunt has hit another snag after Paris Saint-Germain confirmed they want to keep United’s top target Mevlut Erdinc. The big-spending Ligue One club scotched speculation that United have had a £6.5million bid for the player accepted – saying Newcastle are yet to table any offer. In another twist in the long-running saga, PSG have poured cold water on suggestions that a move for Erdinc is gathering momentum. While United’s interest remains, it increasingly looks like they will have to go elsewhere if they are to add a striker before the big kick-off in a fortnight’s time. A PSG spokesman said: “The fax machine is on, the door is open, but no-one has made a bid.” Erdinc was picked by PSG yesterday in their Emirates Cup clash with MLS side New York Red Bulls, and gave a tidy performance. The French club’s spokesman said: “The manager knows that if he wants to win trophies, it is better to have players in all positions. “If you have a player of Erdinc’s quality, it is certainly a good thing. “It will be hard for him, there are new players, there are players coming in, but as of now, he is an important part of the squad.” PSG manager Antoine Kombouare issued a hands-off warning on Erdinc after the game, insisting he wanted to keep him. ”He’s playing in the team, he’s out there on the pitch, he’s a part of my team,” he said. United’s pursuit of Erdinc is hardly helped by a fall-out with his agent Pierre Frelot but the two parties ARE on speaking terms again after a row over bonus payments. He was remaining tight-lipped but the Sunday Sun understands that he is taking United’s calls again – although reports from France suggested he had made contact with Rennes to ascertain whether they would be interested in lodging a bid. He told the Sunday Sun: “Mevlut was in England only to play in the tournament. He has not had discussions with Newcastle and he will not have discussions with Newcastle this weekend.” He neither confirmed nor denied that he was currently refusing to do business with the Toon, saying: “I have no more comment to make.” http://www.sundaysun.co.uk/sport/newcastle-united/2011/07/31/psg-are-keen-to-keep-hold-of-mevlut-erdinc-79310-29149562/2/

Apart from the likes of Douglas and co, there has been nothing from the club since that comment. And all he said was 'he's on our radar'. We could be negotiating for someone totally different and be totally oblivious to it. There have afterall been numerous deals that have come out the blue in Ashleys time. Yaron
Reminds me of the "pursuit" of Dirk Kuyt in 2006 when Roeder scouted him 5000 times and than he moved to Liverpool.

I think we all knew then though that a bigger club would sign him, I still think we'll get him.
Pilko
Roeder loved window shopping, like. Easyjetting off to France, Holland etc to watch players we had no hope of signing or paying for.
