Tend to agree that NUFC could and should have put out a statement this morning though. It was a massive story in a proper newspaper, not internet rumours or tabloid wank.

They didn't have to say exactly what it was (though they're clearly happy to do so a day later) but anything would have been better than nothing. Stupid.

This must be pretty bad if he wants to rescind everything (and wasn't it his dad who persuaded him to sign a new contract after visiting SJP anyway?)

BUT....If all the speculation is true, thenSan Lorenzo have acted the c*nt in exploiting the situation.... So can't we just loan him back to Argentina on the off-chance she pulls an al-Megrahi and defies medical science? Then we go straight back to square one, Colo comes back, no harm done.

Like someone said though, maybe Coloccini didn't want anything made public. With the rumours today that might have had to have changed.

Pretty shit that even for something like this people find a reason to slag off the club. Pathetic.

Can only think that they've been asking Coloccini all day whether they can get a message out in one way or another and he's said no until now, otherwise they're idiots.

It's incredibly clear the journos have been fed a line to make it public so he can't be that set against it.

Maybe Colo hadn't heard the sinister rumours and the club were protecting him from it by not drawing attention to it?

I could casually mention on here that I have had a shit day at work, and it would be blamed on Pardiola

Not releasing a statement always make rumours get stronger not weaker though???

Eh, how am I slagging off the club? I just think it was wrong to let this fester all day, it's pretty fucking big news.

This is not just about his wife either, they are kids involved not sure how i would feel if my mum was ill half way round the world and my dad was under contract somewhere and couldn't get out of it.

Hold on, we are getting a bit carried away here. We don't even know:

A) if its true and

B)if its anything more than thrush

Where did I mention you? Look throughout the thread, some people have been blaming the club's position, Pardew, etc. for this it's pathetic.

We of course we are assuming but if it is true you can understand the reasons behind Colo's want to leave.

Caulkin is as reliable as anyone is on NUFC so I tend to lean as to it being true and it looks like the club briefed the ne journos on it and given he wants to go home over this it sounds fairly serious

Really sad news if this is true.

Still can't quite make the connection between this story and San Lorenzo though.

They sound psyched at the prospect of getting him, really? with major personal problems right now?

If his Dad is at that club, surely they must know of this situation? Right?

Their "statements" seem even more strange now in this light.

Equally if this is the position and he feels that back home is an altogether better place to be right now, then a vague but firm statement from both Colo and Club could (and probably should) have been made before now to avoid salacious rumours.

Strange

How is it "pretty shit" or "pathetic" when we didn't even know what the situation was when people were speculating if it was about Pardew/league position etc ???

The San Lorenzo thing looks like simple opportunism to make themselves look big time players, doesn't exactly paint them in a good light

 I've noticed this throughout today on this thread. It's pretty low but it does seem that people will use anything to slag club/Pardew off at the moment.

Nice and easy to say in hindsight. Maybe the speculative posts wouldn't have been made if we had a clue what was going on.

Because it was pretty obvious when the stories came out that he wanted to go home, that it was for personal reasons. Else why San Lorenzo? It's not like he couldn't have joined a top club in La Liga or Serie A if it was for professional reasons.

If his wife is that ill, football will be a massive distraction to him whether it was at NUFC or San Lozenge. I don't really know what the best solution would be. I'm glad Pardew is 'confident' of sorting it out though.
