Gabriel Obertan signs for Anzhi

Recommended Posts

Not good, would have been a different option from the bench and we aren't exactly in a position where we already have too many players performing well for him to get a sniff.

Rather see Amalfitano get given a chance instead tbh, we've seen enough of Obertan to know he'll offer jack shit apart from poor crosses and running into blind alleys. Think Amalfitano has more to his game in the brief times I've seen him.

Competition for places is fucking abysmal in our squad like. Probably one of the most understated reasons behind out utter shitness this year. Obertan remaining out is annoying because he plays in a specialised position, which Jonas currently occupies without a hint of worry about ever being dropped.

Guest hatem garrincha

Amalfitano plays in Anita's position. Don't think he can match the latter.

Don't think he could even match Obertan if he was asking to play out wide.

He's a good squad player, not more imo (Guthrie was better)

Saturday will be his 9th match out injured with a sore toe. No return date according to PhysioRoom.

He's had a few problems with his toes. This comeback is from an operation he has had to try to solve the problem. Pardew said last week that Obertan is kicking the ball again in training.

I know our squad is bare thin at the moment but the fact Amalfitano hasn't featured all means we could've at least took a gamble and loaned him to a Championship team for a month or so with a recall option. Just to get him to grips with the game over here a bit more if for nothing else.

This is based on something that might not have even happened but I kind of remember someone saying Amalfitano was still trying to learn the language.

If that is true (:dontknow:) that might be why they are still easing him in.

Coincides with the beginning of our shocking run of results doesn't it? Get well soon Gabby!

Amalfitano played tonight for the under 21s who got battered. Maybe NUFC wanted him to train for 6 months before sending him on loan to a Championship club? Maybe he's still acclimatising. We did get him from the French 2nd division. It wasn't likely he'd be a started in the Premier League unless he was great in training. Maybe we've got a dud? Time will tell.

I just want someone quick who will move forwards with the ball, we can deal with him ballsing it up later.

It's definitely a case of a player getting better while they aren't playing but I do kind of miss him as an option.

Puts teams on the back foot, scares them with his pace etc etc

I'm all for getting rid of him in January. Imagine never having to see Obertan and Simpson attacking the RW again. Obertan hesitating when he reaches the box, turning back to Simpson who's cross is blocked out for a throw, which goes back to Tioté who smashes one into the stands.

“Gabby has a chance of being involved on Saturday. When we don’t have Gabby, it does affect the opposition because when he’s in the team their left-back does not go anywhere.

“We’ve had problem with that in recent weeks in terms of the opposition left-back getting into our box and creating goals. If nothing else he will stop that and if Gabby plays as he has done in the European matches, then he will affect the game in a positive manner as well.”

:hmm:
