quayside
The thing is it is often mentioned how Ashley bought us for fun and as soon as the fans starting having a go at him he decided to stop that as he didn't like being called nasty names. In general football fans are fickle as f***, so if he actually spent a bit of cash and brought in a manager for as mentioned footballing reasons a lot of our fan-base wouldn't give a f*** about the tacky advertisements around the stadium and all of the rest of it. It's sad really because it wouldn't take that much for him to win the fans round, tweaking his existing policies so that they all work properly. He started doing it in 2011/12 but he continually ruins it by doing stupid things. If we stop touting our players around as soon as they look half decent, he gets rid of some of the SD.com s**** and invests at least the TV money Id wager most people would leave him alone. Where is all the TV money going? Is it clearing the ' loan' he gave to the club? Looks that way. It may be why he's said he won't sell until at least the end of next season. By that time he will have had two years worth of the new TV deal which will have pretty much cleared the debt. The club would then be a debt free business, which of course makes it far more attractive to a buyer. Not that anyone can really have the first idea about what his intentions are..... r0cafella
On reflection he's reaping what he's sown here, Pardew hasn't repaid his loyalty whatsoever. I wonder if he regrets not sacking Pardew at Southampton if he did he could have got Moyes in charge.

I wonder if he regrets not sacking Pardew at Southampton if he did he could have got Moyes in charge. Why would he regret it? He's actually getting money for him He's left him in the lurch without a replacement and as I said Mike appears to be big on loyalty Pardew is jumping ship and rocking the boat. If Ashley would have sacked Pardew and appointed a Moyes it would have given him some breathing room with the fans. If he picks another puppet the fans will be on the case of both the puppet and Ashley, Pardew earned a lot of chips with our fanbase with his 5th place finish that's now evaporated. Interpolic
If the rumours are true about us wanting a Head Coach from the continent rather than another Manager then I'd rather that tbh - Moyes would have wanted some control over transfers, Ashley would have lied and said yes, and there's a good chance it might have ended in tears. We could do with VI clarifying but given it's Spain it's likely Real Socieded have a sporting director who does that or at least has a hand in it. Ronaldo
There's no way Moyes was going there without being assured he'd be able to bring in his own players at least some of the time.

Big Geordie
Makes you wonder if there is anything the football authorities (as toothless as they are) can do with regards to what Ashley is doing, because it's hardly 'sport' - it's not even entertainment, FFS. Nothing will be done, plenty of clubs have went to the wall because of dodgy owners.
Toon Hoser
Newcastle fans round on Mike Ashley: http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/jan/03/leicester-city-newcastle-fa-cup-third-round-match-report No one to hide behind at the moment.
midds
Must admit he does seem a little isolated and vulnerable at the minute. He's lost Llambias, Kinnear and now Pardew over the last year or so and he could well become the sole focus of the fans' anger if things continue to go tits up on the park. Not suggesting he gives the first shit about the prospect of abuse from the stands but he's got no-one to hide behind now. He's on his own pretty much. jimmymag
This could be a watershed moment for the club. Ashley has two choices, either appoint another puppet, Charver or another of his drinking buddies, and risk the wrath of the crowd turning on him and his regime. Or he could appoint a credible coach that we can all rally behind to take the club forward. As others have said, he's lost his "shield" and must be feeling as vulnerable as he ever has at the club. loki679
Let's face it the fans will never turn on him enough to achieve anything. Even if the fans turn on him en masse he can just stop going to games and basically ignore the club apart from banking a fuck off huge cheque each season. beardsleymagic
The thing is though, the more people voice their opinions at the match, the more the press will pick up on it. It's once it gets in the media that it'll make him take notice. He'll not want the full media glare on him and his other businesses.
