Stifler Posted Monday at 19:09 Share Posted Monday at 19:09 Arsenal fans are kicking off that Michael Oliver has never given us a yellow or red card, this despite the fact that he can’t referee our games because he is a fan. https://www.reddit.com/r/ArsenalFC/s/VeI1C30nZt

gdm Posted Monday at 22:40 Share Posted Monday at 22:40 Don’t think doing an interview with the Sun is going to go down well. Especially after how this all started
Pilko Posted Monday at 23:05 Share Posted Monday at 23:05 His PR guy has definitely seen the furore around the death threats to Michael Oliver and said best get that interview done and released, David. Hope he can move forwards with the rest of his life in a positive fashion.
gdm Posted Monday at 23:09 Share Posted Monday at 23:09 (edited) I feel for him. We’ve all fucked up at some point. Doing an interview with the fucking Sun, the ones that published and put the cocaine pictures on the front page? Is that really who you should be going to to tell your story? The way he answers that question about how often he does coke, he goes straight into talking about sexuality, and it just comes off as an excuse. I feel for him like I feel for any human being who has gone through any types of struggles, but this interview (from what I've heard so far), really isn't helping. Yeah I think the interview will ultimately be another mistake. On a wider level it’s no wonder very few in the game come out as gay. Some of the comments on the video and articles are just vile. Heron Posted Monday at 23:39 Share Posted Monday at 23:39 (edited) Actually annoyed me the headline and notion of this article tbh. Very poorly advised or just very naive if they (those advising) or otherwise don't realise that there's vile cunts out there who will lap up this shit and be as disgusting as they can be. I mean I will caveat that I won't even give it the clicks. I doubt I need to. The pile on will ensue, all for what? What's his sexuality got owt to do with it at this stage? The gadgie fucked up and now cause The Sun advertised it they wanna make him a martyr for more sales. All this cause a football man said he doesn't like another football man or team when he was off his lips? Don't we all. Blokes had his career and life ruined. The world is fucking minging sometimes like. And don't get me started on them fucking vultures at The Sun. The cunts. alexf Posted Monday at 23:48 Share Posted Monday at 23:48 Wasn't he accused of online grooming underage boys? I assumed at the time that was bullshit and probably is, but reminds a bit of when Kevin Spacey had those allegations against him and then decided for some reason to choose then to come out as gay. I've never heard that like. I mean if he's a nonce he gets everything and more thrown at him but innocent until proven guilty and if that is nonsense (pardon the pun) then this interview is just lifting crack. alexf Posted Monday at 23:54 Share Posted Monday at 23:54 (edited) On 25/01/2025 at 23:45, Geordie Ahmed said: It's a red card for me Why do people go on about intent? I think his intention is to do a "professional foul" but the intent is irrelevant when the outcome is that his studs catch him on the leg and it rakes down to the players foot I have no major issue if people say it's not a red but I find it mad how people are calling it scandalous, disgrace, worst decision of all time etc etc Heard Micah Richards (known Arsenal fan) earlier on the podcast he does with Lineker and Shearer, literally call it the worst decision in the history of the premier league. Was probably recorded before the Oliver getting abuse news surfaced so he will likely try and walk it back to save face but how absurd and sensationalist is that. Probably wasn't even the most controversial this week across the country. Edited Monday at 23:55 by alexf

The uproar is because it happened to Arsenal, if it was Wolves who received that red card, absolutely no one would be talking about it.

Our history is littered with examples. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/27401986.amp Heck, we have even had a penalty incorrectly ruled out after we scored it. This resulted in a 5 minute conversation between the officials to determine what the right result was, and they still got it wrong. Even though this happened in the Championship, the referee was later promoted to the Premier League.
joeyt
Just find the whole David Coote situation really sad Ruined his career after someone leaked a video of him at a party years ago, a drug problem and having to hide his sexuality due to fear of abuse. And now probably having to sell his story to the Sun to make up for some lost income. Hope he can move forward with it all now
