Feels odd complaining about a ref who should have sent Schar off, but he's just so unbelievably bad.

Initially I thought Schar was a red but looking at it again yellow was the correct decision

Watkins was never getting to the ball so it wasn't preventing a goal scoring opportunity.

No, the ball went to Pope on one bounce, he would never have even got it. Actually in the end Schar didn't even need to foul Watkins.

Absolutely awful officiating and as one sided as it goes. How many VAR checks did they get in the opening 15 for any bit of contact? Fucking joke.

I thought it was really bad. I wonder if weak refs rely on some sort of briefing that Newcastle are physical and expect them to make more contact etc.

I'd say just irrational/inconsistent refereeing. Which is to be expected to some degree.
