Of course he has his price for Ashley, £20m would be a great profit for him. Footballing wise it makes no sense and I hope Ben Arfa wants to stay but anyone bids that much he'll probably be gone.

According to Dr. Pardew, this is where he's been at fitness wise for the last 6 months. The only club he could pass a medical at is ours so he's going nowhere  :D

Ben Arfa isn't worth 20 million, maybe not even 10. He's had maybe half of a good season since the 2010 World Cup. This isn't any fault of his own, but it is the truth. Even before this, his 2010 Ligue 1 winning campaign with OM was fractured and featured many of the things that typified his time in France: Moments of brilliance, moments of childish nonsense, match-winning/saving performances, clashes with coaches and just people in general, managers unwilling to make him a first XI player. The next year was wasted by De Jong. He was brilliant from December on last season, but once again missed more matches than he played in 2013. We watch every match so we know the boy is special, but who else is paying for this?

The only way he leaves this summer is if someone turns his head and the guy forces it through, like he has done at his first two clubs.

Agreed on everything. Don't think any team will be paying £20m. He barely plays.

I think you basically have to fit the team around him. He hasn't really convinced as a No10 playing off a central striker, and when he's out wide he tends to drop deep rather get forward on the end of balls.

Forward apex of a midfield diamond may be best, but then all the others have to fit in around that.

We all know why that is, "Hatem, get back."

Well wide players are supposed to help the defence, at least now and then, but I don't think that's the full story. He likes to collect the ball in space and run at the opposition or deliver a forward pass. He's not so inclined to make a forward run in the hope of getting a pass.

We need to keep him. He makes our team look far more dangerous when he's playing, and that's even when he's not playing at his best. The one true creative source our squad has with the exception of Marveaux. Can't be selling players like him imo.

His injuries are concerning but do think we could have handled them better - playing him vs Fulham set him back and how much focus we had on him in france is open to debate. Hence the weight issues.

To be fair, the wonderful chap in your avatar told a far more effective wide player to do the same. You can't just allow your FB to get continually exposed.

The wonderful chap in my avatar has nothing to do with Ben Arfa dropping deep so I have no idea why you've brought him into it. It was suggested that Ben Arfa plays too deep so I pointed out why he does it, was I wrong?
