Village Idiot
It's a pretty weird clause to be honest. Dunno what would stop, say, Betis from trolling them with a €8m "offer" to force them to pony up.

It's possible IMO, not much more unrealistic than Mapou and Sissoko.

Sakho must sign for a Spanish team, the pun possibilities in Spanish are virtually endless... ("Sacó", among other things, means both to make a clearance or to take a throw-in/kick off). Dave
Not that it's all that relevant, but apparently Weimann has agreed a new deal with Villa.

Could work well with Mbiwa at the back, both french internationals and the same age range. With haidara and debuchy, it'd be an all french back line at times
Kanj
I honestly couldn't imagine we'd sign Sakho if Colo stays, unless we flog Willo/Saylor. Which I really don't see both going. Personally, would love Sakho here, he's ACTUALLY a beast of a CB in terms of his strength vs what people said about Mapou. Mapou is your Colo style smooth ball player and Sakho is a your all around monster in the backline. Not sure how we'd have Mapou, Sakho, Colo, Saylor competing for 2 CB roles; I'd love that selection headache mind you. I'd actually drool over Debuchy - Sakho - Colo - Mapou (sorry Santon) But essentially you could play the best out of Debuchy/Santon/Haidara/Mapou at the back position and Mapou would be fighting for a position with Sakho/Colo. AyeDubbleYoo
I would have Santon as my first choice LB still I think, Mapou is class but he should be playing CB. Probably instead of Taylor TBH.
Kanj
You're right. If we didn't sign anyone else to play CB and Colo stays; I'd like to see him develop next to Colo and hopefully learn how to handle some of the bigger strikers by using some of his technique and reading of the game to snuff things out before they happen. Agree with all this. Debuchy Mapou Colo Santon is easily our best back 4 on paper.

Mapou would be awesome against Shane Long - Colo seems to have issues with the most random of strikers. Shane Long and that Swedish bloke who played at Bolton. Dr Venkman
Ooh, Colo and Mapou as a partnership, that's actually something to look forward to for next season.
KaKa
Ooh, Colo and Mapou as a partnership, that's actually something to look forward to for next season. You think Pardew will drop our only "6 ft 4er" centre back, who happens to be the only English player in our starting 11? Prepare to be extremely pissed off. Lotus
Ooh, Colo and Mapou as a partnership, that's actually something to look forward to for next season. Bit weak for me, like. Not much competition for the high ball either.

Lotus
Well i'm not joking. I'm not sure Mapou & Colo is a good partnership. Lacks height and power for me. Might be ok against some opposition but i would expect a player like Kenwyn Jones to have a fairly easy afternoon against them 2 tbh. Of course, i could be wrong but that's my (current) opinion.
