ToonTastic
I'd start him, like. Is his short on match fitness? No. Is he tired? No. 10 years of Shola knowing the place still doesn't make him a better option for scoring goals on Sunday. I'd take the risk, though we know Pardew won't. Also has very little game time with the players around him which could cause problems. Full 90 might not be right.
Kanj
Pardew quotes: When asked what he expects from the Senegalese recruit, he replied: "Single-minded goalscoring. I don't think he is going to hesitate to shoot, so whether he starts or whether he comes off the bench on Sunday, you are going to see a directness from him." Pardew explained that Cissé's new team-mates were eager to assess the newbie. "Not all the boys did the full session, but they all stayed around and wanted to have a nose and see how he got on. I think he impressed one or two. The two guys coming in certainly will have buoyed everybody, and I know there will be a fantastic atmosphere at our place. Whether Cisse starts, whether Demba starts or whether they come off the bench, they are going to have an impact of some type, and I am looking forward to it. It's going to be a great day for us, hopefully." My word, we haven't had a strike partnership this mouth watering since Shearer/Ferdinand and I don't mention Shearer/Bellers as I don't recall Bellers being a productive goal scorer prior to coming here. I won't mention Shearer/Owen either. Although I was really up for Shearer/Kluivert at 1 point. Imagine the Demba's click quickly..my word.

Dr Venkman
If Shola starts I'm not watching. Really? Your support of the club rests on whether one player is involved/not involved? That fascinates me on several levels. If you hate that player so much that it affects your support, why not find a club where you like all if the players. Wouldn't you guys enjoy that infinitely more? Ffs, i dont think he meant it literally to be fair to the guy. Likely not but the pissing and moaning about players and a gaffer that has us in 5th spot on 3 Feb is really rattling my cage. We have a very real opportunity to be in 4th come Sunday evening and yet people still slag off the squad and manager. It is no wonder Newcastle supporters have the reputation of being completely delusional. Back on topic - I hope Cisse starts on the bench and gets the second half. I think it may be overwhelming to start after the couple of weeks that he has had. That and it will give the crowd a lift. you absolutely reek of someone that hasn't had to watch Shola for ten years

As a defender who has to play as part of an organised back 4 then yes you need time to know the other players around you, but as an out and out goalscorer you should be able to slot into any side really. Of course as time progresses then you will develop an understanding with your teammates, which in turn is likely to be beneficial, however, that is not a reason to not put someone straight in. There are other factors, such as the 'buzz' that him playing will create and hopefully the determination he will have to impress, that I would hope will negate any negative effects that not having played with his teammates very much will have. Add in the fact he could play with Ba, a friend and someone he has been training with regularly for the last month, and there is no reason for him not to start. AyeDubbleYoo
For me strikers need time on the pitch to settle in. If we start him he might be feeling comfortable by about 60 minutes and bag us a goal. If we just bring him on it's hit and miss. Assuming he's fit and ready obviously. GoranBadlund
The excitement that Ba and Cisse as our strikers brings...I don't know if I ever before have felt it this way with this club in regards of the strikers...well not for many years anyway...(Shearer, Ferdinand, Asprilla sure, but I was young then, only vague memories). I admit I have never seen Cisse play but everything points to the bloody fact that this guy is quality...He may need a little bit of time to settle to the Premier League but this guy seems to know where the goal is and compared to the last games with only Ameobi, Best and Loven as alternatives this is like porn. I will not except wonders from him right from the start, but s***....I have a feeling this will be fun.
Shak
I remember being really excited about Kluivert and Bellamy. They played together, looked class, and the partnership was never tried again.
womblemaster
this chap could potential elevate us to a whole new lvl...well the lvl we were on in 94-96. Only thing we lack from that team si the amazing crossers of the ball we had. Our defence now is probably better tbh.

Ghandis Flip-Flop
Bah you can tell the age of some of the posters on here. Robert ahead of Ginola? Really? I'd also have a pre injury Sellars up there too certainly more consistent than Robert and a major reason Cole went mental that first season in the premier league.
