I don't believe that the club have any other option but to get rid if he won't wear the shirt. I have no intention of buying a top with Wonga on it but then again I'm not buying paid a fortune to do so. On a less serious note, can they not misspell the logo on his shirt so that it reads Wango? I'd prefer a target man up front who can hold up the ball while the wide forwards arrives as the lone striker which seems to be Pardews way of playing. This is the Newcastle no.9 basically saying "This is a such a bad and immoral company that I refuse to wear their logo" The main reason for advertising your logo in a ground or on a shirt isn't so someone will go "Oh, I just fancy getting a loan out" it's to keep your brand image up for current and future customers. You want them to see you as the number one reliable company, you'll trust a company that you've seen around a lot more than a cheaper company that has no marketing. As for us the fans, I think it is time for an active protest against payday loan sponsorship. The means for doing so is simple, petition the government. Cisse seems like quite a happy-go-lucky, friendly guy to me and those who've met him say the same. Generally he plays the game with a smile on his face. I can't imagine him being precluded from a pre-season training and team-building trip with the rest of the entire playing squad is something that they feel too cracking about, particularly considering he's our number one striker. I wouldn't assume that Cisse has the support of the other players. The other Muslim players aren't raising the same objection, and I would imagine a large part of the squad feel that Cisse is being hypocritical, for the same reasons as several on here. Well you are assuming same as everyone else if you think they will regard it as hypocrisy. For all those saying Wonga is just like Barclays, I'm sorry it's not. I'll bet no major club would touch Wonga with a shitty stick and it's bad enough we stooped to that level, now it's costing us our better players. It might just be a moral one (if this is even the problem). IIRC, when we announced Wonga was going to be a sponsor, some time ago now, the Muslim Council of Great Britain got on the news pretty sharpish saying how it was unacceptable for a Muslim to carry this sponsor's logo. Haven't heard a peep from the now though. You'd think that if Cisse had declared that was the issue they'd be making sure they get some exposure over it.
