Ishmael
tbf to MoN, many of best full backs usually start out as midfielders. At least during their youth careers. Ashley Cole, Evra, Lahm... Of course our own Santon was a winger and Debuchy started out as a CM.
Guest
1 CL medal more than us though. Santon has one doesn't he?

Not even wingers but CMs

Interpolic
Best thread ever. "wearing my sunderland Dressing gown to the door." http://www.readytogo.net/smb/showthread.php?t=759609 That thread's brilliant. Don't know one Newcastle fan who refers to us as the mags either, if he's made that up then he's a fucking mentalist.

They are not speedy young kids who have just joined a pro-club as wingers only for a youth coach to realise they may be better in the full back position in the pro ranks. Ishmael
There is going to be some merit in having a midfielder at FB or else why would he do it?

Thespence
There is going to be some merit in having a midfielder at FB or else why would he do it? Gardner is playing full back because they need him in the team as he whack a ball hard which gets the odd goal & they don't have many goalscores in their ranks. Colback has a left foot so is put in at left back, once Rose is back to fitness I would imagine Moan O'Neil will stop playing Colback there.

Seems odd to play a central midfielder when you have a RB to play there, mind you this is MON.

cp40
Can't believe we're only 2 points behind them considering the season we've had Derby to come- read one earlier claimimg its a nailed on draw. tbh, I wish they were coming full of themselves again. Tiresias
Form goes out the window for it tbh, having said that they do tend to roll over for us...still be nervous as f*** Cabaye is a big game player imo, and Sissoko looks to be, whereas their team are bottlers...so think we may have edge

Gallowgate Toon
We'll finish above them and that opinion hasn't changed all season, even if we lose our next and they win, I'll still be confident. They have a poor team hindered even further by an out of date manager, we have a good team of actual footballers that have been massively held back by an oaf in charge, as well as some big injuries over winter. However, our boost from new players will carry us through.

Tbf i don't agree think the quality of the players is quite low and actually reasonably impressed with how well drilled he has them in defence. The problem is that they basically can't put pressure on teams very well with how much effort they have to put in staying tight at the back. They'll score basically only from the occasional counter and be incredibly negative the rest of the game. With a decent midfield you should be able to dominate the game against them
Gallowgate Toon
They have one or two decent outlets in attack that he doesn't really make the most of, in that sense he holds them back. I agree that they're well drilled defensively, but he's gone a bit too far with it (no shots on target and all that). They wouldn't be much better off in any case, there's some absolute dross in their first team.
