Wouldn't want Jonas at LB tomorrow, not up against Dyer or Routledge, could get a proper skinning.

Jonas played well in midfield at WBA and was all over the place against Liverpool.

Aye spot on, stick him back in the middle (or Gosling), Santon back in a LB.

He had no protection at all last week - it was bizarre

Its the sacrifice you make to have a front 3 rather than a midfield 5.

Gosling to start, hopefully.

no, obviously not. Should be Jonas in midfield and allow Santon or raylor back into full back.

Obviously based on what? If Jonas is to continue in defence I'd like to see Gosling get his chance.

Do you rate Gosling at all?

He's good enough to play during an injury crisis, yeah.

I'd try and give him a run out, but I wouldn't start him in this match.

Say Jonas stays in defence, who would you put alongside Cabaye and Tiote?

Definitely Gosling for me like, think he would be suited to being the more advanced of the three in the centre, coming late into the box.

There you go.

>Ask a question there's only 1 possible answer to

>Guy says said answer

>Act like a tactical genius

Me? I'd say Gosling is shoo-in but a couple obviously didn't agree.

There you go.

For the balance of the team, do you think Jonas at left back and Gosling in midfield is a better option than Santon (or even Raylor) at left back and Jonas in the midfield 3?

No. Which is why I specified the hypothetical circumstance of Jonas staying in defence.

I've always wanted Santon at LB until Simpson is dropped to the bench.

Jonas would have a nightmare against dyer/routledge. Santon is a lot better suited to actually defending agains them, his issues are lack of experience knowing when to stick and when to twist. jonas is just poor technique as a defender. i'm confident with pardew coaching him from the touchline santon will be okay, he will have done his homework. Whereas swansea used to be a bit indecisive, theyve modulated into quite a potent force (when pressed at the back they are now a lot better equipped to pass it long into the wide players in space and support)- santon will know what to do. jonas just doesnt know how to defend from that area.

yep. stevenage's scott laird and west brom's marek cech could though

That's irrelevant, though. If Santon had a bad game against Routledge it would mean precisely nothing.

Aye, if it was his only bad game, except he's had about 5 or 6.
