Looking forward to seeing this guy, even though I imagine he'll very much be a bit part player at first. Probably take on a similar role to Abeid did last season, training with the first team but playing more games for the reserves.

Abeid had a couple of first team games and did 'ok', but not enough to prove he is ready for a regular first team squad position

Bigi needs to shine in first team action either during Carling Cup ties or later friendlies. In my opinion this will determine where he spends the majority of his time

Assuming we continue with 4-3-3 next season (and I see no reason why we wouldn't) then Cabaye, Tiote then Jonas have the spots nailed down.

With Guthrie gone, it is up to Bigiramana, along with Gosling, Abeid and now Amalfitano to compete for next in line.  If they do not show enough in training, and cameo appearances then Ryan Taylor will continue to be favoured for midfield back up duty.

The other side of the coin is, assuming we get through the play-off, we will have regular Thursday night matches and will need more bodies.  It seems we now have plenty of midfield quantity, hopefully we have enough quality should anything happen to the 1st XI.  As none of Bigirama, Amalfitano, Gosling or Abeid have every had a run in the side we do not really know whether they are Premiership standard.  Some have judged Gosling already but I do not feel I have seen enough of him to judge.

Vuckic is possibly in this tussle as well, although I am none the wiser where Vuckic would best fit into the side.

Agreed, although there's the possibility we buy an extra midfielder too although i would be suprised if we did.

Agreed, especially the point on Gosling who gets far to stick on very limited appearances imo ('I am only going off what I have seen but he looks shit so far'  :banghead:)

I think Marveaux will end up playing in the midfield 3 at some point.

Agreed, quite frankly his style seems to remind me of Silva a bit..... really wouldn't surprise me to see Tiote holding with Cabaye and Marveaux ahead of him against the smaller teams.... especially at home.

We wont exclusively play 4-3-3. Well switch between systems according to the opposition. Its more about fluidity in the players you have at your disposal.

Yeah probably, although i think it will be the system we use the most.

Unfortunately my expectation for Marveaux next season is to manage about 10 games :(

This is a problem, hopefully that specialist we sent him too..... did some sort of RVP job on him.

Major clutching at straws i know !

Me too. From what I have seen so far his passing is extraordinary and his first touch great. In spite of the fact that he is a winger, he has got the attributes to do a great job in central midfield too. Think his greatest problem is to stay fit

Forgot all about him.  Hopefully he can stay fit and emerge as a Ben Arfa/Cabaye hybrid.

May be Giggs but Bigirinana in the Chronic says he didn't like long ball at Coventry and is looking forward to playing football.  Seems like we are developing a good reputation.

That and Pardew's words about playing it out from the back more seems to imply that the sort of football we played during the winning run at the end of the season will be more of a common place this season.
