Legacy
You just know he wants someone to play in a 4-4-2 like he tried at the start of the season.

Ikon
He means two different types of players, on with pace and power to help cisse, and another player good at set pieces, like a CB i think.
alexf
Alan Pardew "So it'll be a lift for them in particular - the (Fabricio) Coloccinis, the Tim Kruls, the Perchys, the (Mike) Williamsons who have played most of our games, that there are one or two more senior players in that dressing room." Made me cringe for some reason
Mole_Toonfan
Tbf it doesn't mean we want to hoof.... For one thing he mentioned pace and no hoofball merchant is pacey..... He basically described Remy and Aubameyang( from highlights i have seen) both are strong, pacey and threat in the air. I would still hope he is looking to put a new forward out wide and Cisse through the middle tbh.
Hanshithispantz
"We're looking for a player who is going to threaten at set-plays" No matter which position we are looking to sign a player in, Pardew, without fail, uses pretty much that exact phrase

Name a target man around who is quick, Drogba was the only one in recent years and he had much more to his game than your standard target man. Guest malandro
I don't believe the club decide what kind of player they want and then go about finding somebody who fits the bill.

But there are players who can play the role who have a nice turn of pace. Why wouldn't they?
Mole_Toonfan
Newcastle boss Alan Pardew is looking for power and pace as he targets a replacement for striker Demba Ba. Chelsea triggered the £7m escape clause in Ba contract with Newcastle on Wednesday, and the player is ready to leave St James' park. Pardew was looking to take positives from the situation, and he believes Ba and former strike-partner Papiss Cisse were not a natural combination. As a result he is hoping to recruit a player similar to Gabriel Obertan, with Marseille's Loic Remy at the top of his wanted list. Pardew said: "I would like, if possible, to have a player with real power and pace. Sometimes, we lack a little bit of pace. "Obertan brings that to the team, but when Gabby is not in the team, that's something I would like to see in the player that comes in because that will help Papiss, and also somebody who is going to threaten at set-plays because it has been a weakness for us. "But it's easy to say what I would really like - it's what I can get in this window and the options are not numerous. There are only a few players, really, who are available." Ok that makes a little more sense i understand where hes coming from now.

Ronaldo
See, those are players who can play the role but exist far beyond the stereotype. Berbatov and Jason Roberts are two more.

Dokko
Isn't Remy supposed to be good with his head? Sure a few people have said that on here. Tbh Cisse has always impressed using his head in his time here, obviously all he can do these days is prevent throw-ins with it.

Mick
When he is able to put out the following side with the following bench then and only then should he be judged ...................Krul................ Debuchy...Taylor...Colo.....Santon ...............Anita.....Tiote............ HBA................Cabaye..........Marv ..................Cisse....................... Jonas Simpson Shola Bigi Taylor Willo New CF So if we never have all of those players fit, and if we don't replace Ba, we can't judge Pardew. You're looking for bites.
