It wouldn't surprise me if they're holding off on bidding for a forward so that fans don't then start pushing for a centre half.

Not that they'd listen or anything, it just seems to be all about appearances and spin at times.  A forward in the last week of the window and people will be 'happy'.

It's little short of a disgrace that no-one has been lined up to replace Ba, who the club must have known was going for some time. It's gonna be another case of smoke and mirrors until the end of the window, which will ultimately end in disappointment with the club saying 'we tried, but couldn't get anyone over the line'. Same old rubbish from Ashley and Pardew.

This smacks of "We tried really hard but oh dear no luck never mind".

That´s just flawed logic. So in the unfortunate event that he actually would like to join us, Ashley would then try to sabotage the deal in some other way just to make it look like we tried?

The thing is why would OM or Remy make a decision now about selling him/where he wants to go?? His value and salary will only go up as the end of the window looms (Andy Carroll is the best example of this), clubs including us will no doubt get increasingly desperate, more money in the transfer fee and more money for his wages. Logic in it.

It's all well and good saying you want to do business quickly but the trouble is the selling club have to want to do business quickly too. It's usually in their interest to drag things out (unless they need money quickly) hoping for a bidding war. We obviously had the Debuchy deal agreed with his club before the Transfer window opened.

As for Remy and/or Aubameyang, we really need two strikers anyway (although it's highly unlikely we'd get two). Apart from Ba, Lovenkrands and Best left and weren't replaced. Xisco is leaving in the Summer (and doesn't really count as he never plays). Ranger isn't wanted and Shola isn't really worthy of the title 'striker' based on his goal return. Having Cisse and Shola as our only Strikers is arguably as bad as us only having 3 Centre Backs.

True, as for the 2nd paragraph i agree completely. Hopefully something will be done.

Apart from all this, the lack of movement on a CB is truly worrying if Taylor breaks down again before the end of season( which he will) we are back to Williamson every week :scared:

Edit: From the Daily Star( yeah i know) in an article about Cabaye.

Newcastle have lined up St Etienne’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang if they miss out on Marseille striker Loic Remy.

The club are confident the French international will arrive this month, despite strong interest from Inter, Borussia Dortmund and Schalke.

But if not, they will turn to Aubameyang, 23, who would cost around £6m.

They probably won't get anybody if we win a couple of games this month.

Why moan about being kept waiting til the end of January? You know that's exactly how this window will work and it's nobody's fault

I didnt say Ashley would sabotage it. When we mean to actually sign someone there generally isnt much news before hand. Therefore I belive this to be a PR stunt much like the bid :) for Wayne Rooney.

To be fair we needed another striker in regardless of ba leaving. The days of having three or four quality strikers are firmly behind us.

We can certainly make it to the summer with one more incoming striker, if we are lucky. But clearly need at least one more. Hopefully we can finally shift shola, xisco and ranger although it wouldn't surprise me to see any of them leading our line next year.

No planning to life after ba (our best/most important player), which they must known for some time was leaving.

Just silly. At least a third choice striker should have been lined up as we need more than 1 striker anyway, in an ideal world. If cisse gets injured we will for sure go down. We have no other Atm who can do the job....shola forget it. He should get 5-10 minutes end of game if needed....tops!

To learn after a week into the window that remy isn't interested is odd. What about that cb we have missed for so long....

The last many windows I go into the window believing and with confidence that Ashley will spend the money because it is so obviously what we have needed everytime.

I know we do business out of the blue....but im not happy about this.

We need a quality cb + striker/winger this window....and im sure it isnt easy to attract the Best when they see our style of play and League position.

With the momentum we had in the summer we could have made a different...we could have secured our position in top 6 if we had signed debuchy, quality cb + striker/winger. Many would have come and it is easier to adjust and sell in the winter than being in desperat need of quality we wont pay for. Ashleys own strategy is becoming his worst enemy.
