Commentator just said well played by Sascha Riether the young full back. Isnt he 30?

Pretty young that compared to the rest of the team. They are becoming the new Bolton.

transfer activity didn't help in that regard

Was just thinking the same. Was it only Kasami and Taraabt under 30 this season(think Bent turns it soon but could be way off)?

one is excusable in the goalkeeper is 30 but 3 year deal for Scott Parker at age 32.............

People like Jol, Pardew and O'Neill are the best arguments for why every club needs a DoF/Head Scout to sign players, so that there is continuity in the team and the long term interests of the club are looked after. These managers don't care about the age of the players they sign or the length of the contracts given because they're 90% not going to be there when the contracts finish. Their job is to win now which is why they have no problem throwing money at old players which leaves the clubs in trouble in the long run.

Wasnt including Stockdale as i thought he would be younger(27) even though he seems to have played for about 20 clubs. Terrible transfer record really. Desperate for more youth there, going to cost a fortune in 18 months to do a wholesale reworking of the squad before they are all using zimmerframes

then theres the other side of the equation where the DOF is all powerful and the manager has 0 say meaning he's getting players me might not want or need and might not rate in the slightest
