France :(

It's ok, they'll just cheat their way to the finals, again.

We need them to be there like :undecided: I don't trust the likes of Cabaye, Debuchy, Remy and Ben Arfa to be motivated enough without a world cup to look forward to.

Where was Cabaye tonight? Suspended I'm guessing.

Nope just dropped, was on the bench.

Fairly stupid thing to do given his recent performances. Put him, MYM, Gouffran, Haidara, HBA, Sissoko from the start and Obertan into that French side and they romp it. :shifty:

Ok not Obertan.

You don't think much of any of them as people, then.

Equatorial Guinea v Spain. Not at all weird.

In fact:

MADRID (AP) - Spain's national team will travel to Equatorial Guinea for a friendly game, and the country's football federation won't say why.

The decision to play in the former Spanish colony has drawn the ire of the country's opposition in exile group in Madrid, and raised questions about what benefit the World Cup champions expect to get from playing a team ranked 119th in the world.

The federation said it will not be paid any extra fees to play. When directly asked why the game is being played, federation president Angel Maria Villar refused to answer.

''I won't answer this question,'' Villar said Thursday. ''Ask anything else, but I won't respond to this one.''

Spanish players have reportedly refused to pose for photographs with President Teodoro Obiang Nguema, who is Africa's longest serving strongman and accused of human rights violations and corruption.

Spain will become the first nation from outside Africa to play in Malabo since Obiang took power in 1979. Equatorial Guinea is coached by former Spain international Andoni Goikoetxea.

More than 14,000 people have joined the opposition group in calling for the match to be halted by signing a petition on change.org.

Blimey. The Butcher of Bilbao. Was despicable as a player and continues his work as a manager, I see. I do hope he gets his just rewards in due course.

It's drawn quite a stir; it's well known (and derided) that the Spanish FA will whore the team out to the highest bidder; and there's a long story of shady nonsensical friendlies to prove it.

I personally don't think playing in Guinea is that shocking given that the players have stayed away from making photo-ops with the dictator; as my mother said, "It was already sucky enough living under Franco without the Rolling Stones refusing to play here". If it brings enjoyment to the locals, there's owt wrong.

Much much worse was the fake Haití charity game and it didn't cause the same ruckus, tbf.
