Won’t lie, it’s utterly baffling to see this opinion on a Newcastle United forum in Spring 2025. It’s a fucking trophy. I don’t want or need “vindication”, I didn’t choose to be a Spurs fan. I want to win a fucking trophy. What on Earth are you on about? Presuming this isn’t just trolly bullshit of course.

Not something that is happening often to Spurs. Will be a massive season for them. Same cant be said about Manu, but its still huge.
southernmag Posted Sunday at 13:39 Share Posted Sunday at 13:39 So you'd be happy if we scraped 17th and won the Conference League (since trophies have such value)? Really don't get the antagonism to what I said, it wasn't that offensive.
GallowgatePigeon Posted Sunday at 14:21 Share Posted Sunday at 14:21 'Ultra' fan groups are bad for atmosphere. Sure, the pyro and displays are impressive, but the 'atmosphere' they generate isn't authentic or reactive to what's happening in the pitch, it's scripted, they become background noise after 5 minutes. I think Neymar was the last one. Vini Jr has great output and numbers but he doesn’t have that Ronaldinho/Neymar sick skillzz. Few Brazilian players take your breath away these days. Not many surprises. Genuinely think Bruno has some of the magic dust mixed with a winners mindset and serious stamina. He really has been a surprise. But when you see the young players that get linked with big European clubs, you watch their ‘highlights’ on YT and just shrug most of the time 😕 History is already being kind to Neymar. No coincidence he's the favourite player of the most exciting teenagers around in Yamal and Doue have him as their idol. None of the players that grew up idolizing CR7 are as enjoyable to watch
The College Dropout
I like the atmosphere you get in places with wall-to-wall noise. It turns up a level when the action of the pitch gets going but keeps a minimum atmosphere level when the action is slow

But having seen ManU fans when they beat us in the League Cup final, it hardly seemed a season-defining event. Given the much worse league position, and the decline of the Europa's prestige, my impression is most would still consider the season a big failure. From the outside, to me, this looks like a cup that's of low value to ManU and a historically bad league season that really dents the prestige and draw of the club. Pata
I like Ultras for the base level of noise they keep but they also need help from the rest of the stadium. Prague derby was class, I felt like the Sparta Ultras were more reactive than the usual continental groups and the rest of the stadium were happy to often join. Was sitting in pretty posh seats equivalent to East Stand and most people around me joined the singing often and the atmosphere was one of the best I’ve experienced. Was also mindblowing that the stadium was pretty full an hour before the kickoff and the noise Ultras made during the warm up was deafening. Hate the attitude of many Ultra groups at least in Finnish hockey matches where they think signing the repetitive songs all game is the only right way to support. Best atmospheres always need the full stadium to react to the events on the pitch/ice to make it special, ultras are just like a band behind it all making the base noise. We need to be clear about what we want. For me, there's a difference between noise and atmosphere. The noise is what the ultras provide and a lot of the time it's orchestrated and detached from the ebb and flow of the game. The noise ultras create sometimes encourages the rest of the stadium to join in depending on the context of the game, though a lot of the time they blend intk the background. For example, in the Celtic vs Hibs game this weekend the Green Brigade were singing, Hibs scored and you could hear the Green Brigade as much as you could hear the Hibs fans celebrating. The atmosphere is something that happens organically, if it's a high stakes game, if you team have just scored or have the momentum or if the away fans are making a racket, that all encourages a good atmosphere.
