hard to disagree with this tweet

If he doesn’t go to Barca now then he will never get the chance - I can’t blame RK - it’s literally been his dream job for when he started his management career

yeah but give up a Euros managing your country and who knows maybe could win it to take over a falling apart team where you know in a year you'll be kicked out of the job regardless of how you do in that time to be replaced by Xavi. And in the meantime you get to be a mudguard for the current president oh and unless you do the unthinkable you have no money to replace the old falling apart team and nothing seems to be coming through the academy either.

They've brought through Ansu Fati and Riqui Puig this season, their B team has done much better this season as well.

By Barca’s own philosophy at least 2 more will come via the B team for next season too - they just have to be creative in the market and see if they can unearth a couple of signings - have to somehow get rid of Rakitic and Vidal

They then have Alena, Coutinho, Miranda, Trincao and Pjanic to come in

Barca just do not learn.

They can’t get a manager on a long term deal with the elections in 2021 - Koeman will get a 1 year deal with an option for the new board to extend it by 1 further year - if not he’ll get a bit of compo - most likely Xavi will be coach in 2021

There is that. But I also think that Barca is always desperate for a coach with Barca or Catalan connection. Their sense of identity is so strong that it dominates every other quality required out of a manager. When it works it is magical and romantic.

They are far more likely to be patient with Esteban Bruceiro - a random youth coach at Real Valladolid who previously worked at La Masia (making it up) than a legend like Sir Bobby Robson.

Can’t grt more romantic than Koeman - member of the dream team - he’s a Barca icon - gave them their first European Cup

honestly probably City but the list of clubs that actually might be able to buy him is just City PSG and maybe Man Utd

We cannot afford Messi.

I reckon Adidas might stump up a chunk to see him in an Adidas kit at club level.

Would that even be allowed?

Just with the Koeman news, what other examples are there of managers falling upwards? Ones I've thought of so far:

Pardew to us

Martinez to Belgium

Carvahal to Swansea

Guess you can include Bruce but he wasn't sacked by Sheff Wed
