jdckelly
Been mentioned elsewhere but if these performances are the product of a motivated team who are behind their manager then how fucking bad is it going to get once he does lose them? Blatantly obvious they've quit on him. It's just prolonging the suffering now. debatable about if they've quit on him since pretty much the same thing was said last season and then there was the first half of this season when its clear they hadn't but what is clear is they've quit on the season and while Pardew has to take blame for failure to motivate them since we were safe its also a malaise that runs far deeper than just Pardew thats caused by Mike Ashley, there is no ambition at the club to better our current position and that spreads to the players who stop caring about the season when there's absolutely nothing to chase. The squad itself doesn't help as there is no leader at all in the dressing room or anyone who is even close to qualifying as one. Loss of motivation with nothing to play for is one thing, getting hammered by 3's an 4's week in week out would suggest a more serious problem. perhaps but the timing of this downturn is too closely timed to when we're basically safe to ignore personally. But the pattern of big defeats is nowt new and says as much about the squads tendency to just say fuck it and give up in matchs as it does Pardew. I say fuck the lot of them and get rid of them all but thats not likely sadly.
Sifu
Good to see that Pardew can't instill any professionalism into our players. The season's over for us but a manager should still be expected to motivate his squad of players to play at their best week in, week out but instead the players we're seeing on the pitch have no passion or fighting spirit. Pardew's incompetence and his clear non-commitment to the cause have rubbed off on the players. No-one cares anymore at this football club and what a fucking shame that fucking is. Guest tollemache
There was a huge bust-up with the players at the back end of last season, hence the Telegraph still being banned for reporting it. Any details on that? I didn't hear much about it. Interesting if there's been a problem throughout this season

Thats not exactly the kind of recipe for getting anyone who cares that much about the club.

I think the players would do a lot better if they were playing for enjoyment if nothing else. How do you enjoy camping in your own half behind the ball with rarely more one man allowed anywhere near the opposition penalty area?

I mean, if you aren't planning for next season and have nothing left to play for, surely creating a relaxed atmosphere where players can express themselves and entertain the paying fans would be the logical choice. huss9
this excuse of having nothing to play for. I've watched us for over 30 years including plenty of mid table finishes (even under SBR), but never have I seen a second half to a season like this in terms of lack of effort. there's been plenty of dreadful seasons in terms of quality - but nothing like this in terms of throwing the towel in. LoveItIfWeBeatU
We had something to play for this time last season. We were playing not to be relegated. We were awful then too.
huss9
the awfulness is down to the standard of players, the tactics, etc. its the shear lack effort over a sustained period of time that i'v never seen before. even in the relegation season (other than the last game at villa) there was some semblance of effort in those last half a dozen games. TK-421
God, has this **** not gone yet??? Was hoping the club might pull its usual stunt of making an announcement late last night, to miss the Sunday Press. Anyone know of there was any truth on the 'emergency meeting' rumours, or just twitter bollocks?

sparkzter
Doubt there was any truth in it. However Ashley has to see these games and players we have, if he wants to protect his investment against relegation there is no way he can carry on as is. Doubt he is gonna sanction spending with Pardew at the helm, once again, stick or twist, he is a gambling man. Wait till Christmas and it'll be too late IMO. He has to be thinking about replacing him.
themanupstairs
Maybe if the players could see a method behind the madness (or shiteness) that is Pardew's management, they would still be up for it knowing the club was going places. Was plotting to build. Some sort of footballing philosophy that could attract some good players in the future (within our budget). Maybe they'd buy into what the manager had to say, and remain motivated for the rest of the season. Maybe if he would play some of the youth, and give the seniors the responsibility of looking after them in matches, it might motivate one or two of the senior characters in the squad. As it is, Shola Ameobi comes on 3-0 down with 5 minutes left. As far as the clear and present evidence on the football pitch, since this fraud took over (bar the 433 run of 6 or 7 games which has never been implemented correctly since then), it's obvious that his ad hoc approach to player management, and apparent extensive detail on how to stop the opposition, is not something any of the players enjoy, and it's been obvious to them that it will take us nowhere. Football is about enjoyment. For the players and the fans alike. Our players certainly are NOT enjoying their football at all, and in turn, neither are the fans. Successful managers are....successful...because they understand this very simple equation. Pardew is a selfish chancer with no class, and a massive ego that has no justification whatsoever. It's not only that his football is rotten, HE himself is a rotten individual.
Guest zicomartin
from Pardew's Wikipedia In the 2006–07 season, Pardew was criticised after seeing West Ham through their worst run of defeats in over 70 years which included an exit from the UEFA Cup to Palermo in the very first round[11] and a League Cup defeat to Chesterfield.[12] West Ham's new owners stated their support for Pardew,[13] but on 11 December 2006, following a 4–0 defeat away at Bolton Wanderers the previous weekend, it was announced that Pardew had been sacked by West Ham. The club statement read: "The chairman Mr Eggert Magnússon and the board have been concerned by the performances of recent weeks and feel that it is the right time to make a change in the best interests of the club."[14] maybe it needs to be updated and emailed to the sycophantic journos who don't see a pattern here...
