More 'substantial' bids made safe in the knowledge they'll never be accepted and the gullible idiots are conned once more.

It's fucking pathetic.

Yep, £6.5m is ok, but if we were bidding for a player who was worth it and the team selling wanted £6.5m, we would bid £4m. It's so transparent it's insulting.

Why are we apparently persisting with this failed French experiment? Under Pardew this would be another pointless signing. Of all the French players we have signed only Cabaye has really been a success followed by Debuchy who will be leaving, and Remy who was never our player. All the rest Pardewed, we can't give them away.

Surprised Montpellier didn't accept less than we've (allegedly) offered before despite the player now being more highly rated. Didn't see it coming.

So long as we're not held to ransom

But it's not to sizeable body of our support. That's the annoying thing, they fucking buy it. They fall for it time after time. Feigned ambition.

We don't know if this is NUFC's final offer. I doubt NUFC would be happy if their first offer was accepted as it would mean the opening bid was too high. The trouble is the selling clubs tend to leak details of each bid to the media, probably trying to drum up interest from other clubs. We may end up getting him in the end. The anguish over the rejected bid could all be for nothing.

He wont be coming here if he had any sense.

From a purely mercenary point of view NUFC is a good club for players from France to come to. We are a good stage for them. Ba, Remy, Cabaye and Debuchy have all had their profiles raised by playing for us in the Premiership. They also get paid more here than they do in France.

Very true.  If they are successful here, they know they will be able to step up to a "bigger" club whilst many players who make that move directly don't get enough playing time and so don't get the opportunity to adjust.

Remy was already playing in England too.

As per usual it's about securing players in the hope they increase substantially in value, rather than whether the manager can actually use them effectively or not. There's a fatal flaw in that plan though...

Considering what we know about the research the club put into valuing players it's pretty obvious they also consider heavily the financial status of the club they're trying to buy from and in their calculations weigh heavily the fact they're offering cash up front. In theory I see the idea behind it, problem is it doesn't fucking work very well in practice.

Cash up front add well man  We need a yellow three wheel van

A fast, agile and creative attacking midfielder he is capable of operating on either wing or behind the main striker as well as in a slightly deeper playmaking role.

Totally right and yet the same people whine on about things and still they go - the worst though are the people who think things are being run well which totally staggers me as it's quite a few % of our support. This club is doomed until he goes and unfortunately as long as he is making money and large numbers continue to go, then that will be years to come. The whole Pardew situation just sums up his utter contempt for the fans - he is practically laughing at us because the majority want him out and yet he continues on, even though at any other club he would have been sacked last year never mind this one.

I need to work on my reaction to failed bids for players. I still felt disappointed on this news but the silver lining is that without match winners Pardew will have nowhere to hide next season.

All part of the con. Spend a bit of money early on, make out they've got ambition, trick a few mugs into carrying on with their season tickets then balance the books later on by selling Ben Arfa and Debuchy.

This is all an aside from remembering that the first £19m spent is simply the Cabaye money. Anything after that comes from the previous 2 years worth of TV money that was never spent. The lack of investment is fucking criminal.

Didn't we pay £6.5m for Sir Les 20 years ago? That kind of fee is small now especially considering how much TV money teams get. Pathetic penny pinching making us look smalltime personified.

Also forgetting the 20m outlay we got 5 months ago.
