The 24-year-old was originally named on Didier Deschamps's stand-by list for the tournament, but injury to Clement Grenier has seen the midfielder earn a place in the 23-man squad. Cabella has already stated his desire to leave the Ligue 1 side, with Newcastle in talks to bring him to the Premier League, and Nicollin is confident that exposure in this summer's showpiece can force up his price. "I'm happy [for Cabella's call-up], because he's a great kid," he told L'Equipe. "This shows the quality of our academy. It is highly probable that I'll go see all the national team's games. "I'm happy I didn't sell him €8m to Newcastle." Cabella scored 14 goals in 37 appearances for Montpellier in Ligue 1 last season.

TRon
I can't help chuckle whenever I read about our failed transfer bids in the knowledge that while Pards is eagerly spewing praise on Liverpool and Southampton players, he's the one who will end up getting bummed royally with Ashley's cheap 'n chatty contract bargains. loki679
This is what happens when you try and make money instead of trying to do well. Our club asks 'how much can we make on him?' while other clubs ask 'how many games can he win us?'. You don't get money out of football. You put money in, you get football out. In fairness football should have never got itself to the state where it's purely a loss-making business = football out. However it is the reality. What I don't understand is that if Cabella is this talented, surely £12m is still a snip? - If he sells for £20m+ it's still all profit, why miss out on someone of his quality we can have today if we simply spend what is fair amount for a quality talent. Because the people in charge are fucking stupid. They care about potential when it can be bought for the cheapest of prices, they don't want the risk of a real investment. If Cabella flops then that's money gone, it's a pessimistic view but one naturally synonymous with penny-pinching dickheads.

They are fucking idiots and it just saddens me so much that we truly are so short sighted when it comes to signing players of class. We treat it the same as any other signing. I have the strong feeling we will regret not signing this lad for £12m when he tears it up for another club. When we are languishing towards bottom half of the table come January and relegation threatend I'm sure the fat prick will realise it as well, but by then it maybe too late for us. Yup precisely.. Especially considering the new TV deal and such 12million certainly isn't as much as what was. In relative terms of course.
