I’d love adidas to get the balls to do something similar to the barcode design.

I found a template of the barcode and had a fictional away made, also got a template similar to the mythical one off v Luton third. On the look out for a johns Anderson all stars green one to get a blue star on.

You did what now? How might someone find a template to get the actual barcode one made? Preferably long sleeves like yours?

If that barcode strip was brought out today with no nostalgia from 50yr olds listing after the misery of the 80s again, it would be pretty much universally hated.

 

Home kit is black and white stripes. We complain if anyone tries to do something different/innovative. We complain if it's boring and debate the correct width of stripes and ratio of black to white. 

 

Our best perceived kits are always associated with enjoyable and entertaining teams.

 

That hated 2008 kit would probably be loved if we weren't relegated in it

I think this is a bit of a myth. It's just a nice coincidence that the two best kits of the modern era were worn by the best teams. I don't think there's huge fondness for the 01-03 NTL kit, or the Castore one from Howe's 4th place finish? And no one's gushing over those honking Puma efforts if the teams had been brilliant. 

 

As for where we go next, I'm gagging for something fresh now. I'm so, so over throwback culture. Fine, Adidas are back, and they were always gonna do the thing. Fair dos, the away kit is a cracker but the third and particularly the home are absolutely woeful recreations. Can we just move on now?

It will also sell alcohol so that Paul Mitchell can have a pint as his wife drags him around shopping.

It's nothing to do with nostalgia for me, it's about the design. I love most of the Umbro kits despite having no memory of all but the barcode and Liam O'Brien ones. If that exact top was brought out today I'd love it, if a modern day version of it was brought out it wouldn't be the same and I doubt I'd like it.

I agree on the design point of the barcode shirt. I feel like it works a lot better as a shirt to be owned rather than a Newcastle shirt to be worn by the team for a season.

Potentially unpopular opinion but I wouldn't mind us changing it up for a season on home kit ie having the barcode design or having a half black and half white shirt a la that members kit.

 

Of course, I'd much rather they just remade Juventus' 2017-18 kit for us. Dunno why that'd be so difficult.

Just looked that up, thats like the perfect kit. Please Adidas, just that please. In regards to weird designs, I often wondered what a hooped design would like like in black and white. Probably like a rugby kit tbh

 

Wasn't there a report that the black in next seasons home kit was going to have a slight pattern on it, I wonder if its going to be a bit like Juventus' 2021/22 kit:

Its something we're going to have to get used to tbh, given UEFA require the back be one flat colour for the number area.
