England: Burn and Gordon named in latest squad (Official)

Recommended Posts

Not suggesting is slightly acceptable for ENG to take 0-4 at home, but it seems to me that the Hungarian NT has made solid progression throughout the years. We faced them in 2016 and could barely pull a 3-3. In last Euros we won 0-3 but it was a extremely unfair result to them. Now they are making very good games on the NL.

I don't know, I kinda like to see Hungary rise again from their historical hashes after two lost WC finals.

I went back some pages and see mostly laughing emojis so I assume most of you aren't losing a night of sleep because of this.

Maybe it's time for Southgate to go?

Why are England incapable of getting in a manager that can get the team using the ball better?

The team is stacked full of players that are brilliant technically now. I think it's unacceptable that the team plays the way they do, even when they got to the final and semi final recently.

In my opinion, looking at the opponents they had in those last two tournaments, and the level of talent they had in the team, I genuinely think Harry Redknapp would have won at least one of those tournaments with England.

Say what you want about Redknapp, but his teams are always really good going forward, and he fills forward thinking players with tons of confidence, and gives them the freedom to do what they are best at, and Redknapp has also always been able to get results for the most part. His teams don't really tend to be rubbish defensively.

Don't understand why Redknapp never got a crack at it.

I always remember the Belgian keeper of that era: Jean-Marie Pfafffffffffffffffffff.

Funny, my mind went straight to Michel Preud’Homme who was Belgium’s keeper for most of the 80s and 90s. Brilliant keeper

Of course the finest moment of world cup goal keeping in that era must surely be 'Rats beats Bats!'.

Redknapp would probably go the same way as Allardyce.

Your post started so well then you mentioned ‘Arry.

As a random viewpoint as an outsider, it seems Southgate has always had to push back as to why he’s deserving of the job and he’s always been 1 loss away from backlash coming out or 1 win away from being the best. He’s done fantastic over the course of his time Imo but has been falling short.

Started reading… :llorente?:

Got to the ‘Arry section… :serious:

From a football perspective why does Redknapp get so little respect though?

Allardyce and then Southgate have just got the job in back to back appointments and neither have achieved anything close to what Redknapp has, all while Redknapp has played infinitely better football.

Redknapp went into Spurs when they were in the bottom three and in a couple of seasons had them in the Champions League.

Put some respect on that man's name. My God.

I don’t or didn’t mind Redknapp, as a manager anyway. Always played decent attractive attacking football. But as a person, he doesn’t fit the New England type character, they got stung after Big Sam.

Also I quite liked the promotion of Southgate, other countries give managers without much experience a chance and it hopefully bodes well for other aspiring home grown managers/coaches. I’d have Potter as our next manager for example, but I guarantee people will say what’s he won, who has he managed etc.

It's crazy Allardyce got it ahead of him in the first place. And I doubt Redknapp would have done something as crass as what fat Sam did when in that position.

I genuinely don't remember, did Redknapp actually ever get caught legitimately doing anything dodgy?

I’m not sure and aye, I’d have had him ahead of Big Sam easily.

Old ‘Arry is obviously a bit dodgy when it comes to wheeling and dealing in the old transfer market, but again I quite liked him especially as a manager. He laid the foundations for Poch’s Spurs and they played some class football under him at times, tearing Inter apart in their own stadium for example.

I'd bet everything I have in my rabbits Cayman Islands account that if 'arry got the fake sheikh treatment you would uncover all sorts.

One of his best traits in terms of the media is he didn’t antagonise people and he was well protected in that sense from scrutiny. By all accounts he’s a top bloke, my mate went to a talk in of his a few years back and said he was like KK in terms of engagement, honesty, humour and being down to earth. I can’t recall many players having a bad word to say about him either!

Could probably solve the cost of living crisis by clawing back all the missing tax. Although I don't think the BBC has the resources for the amount of episodes it would take to cover the whole thing, might be one for Sky Documentaries.
