Guest Gomez
I'd like to see a new left back, but hasn't Dummett been given the number 3? They probably think they have enough, heard there's this lad at Inter though... Obertan's assist means we'll have to endure him sleepwalking through the next four or five games before we get to see Aarons or Perez, doesn't it? :/

Memphis
Thought we were quite good in the main. Wijnaldum's movement and energy were excellent until they weren't. Was really encouraged by the way we played out of the back, with the two CBs splitting, allowing Anita - who was steady and neat - to receive the ball from deep while also allowing our FBs to get well forward. Both CBs can play the ball, which is a nice luxury, shame Colo is about 4 years past his prime. In theory, with better players than Colo and Haidara, that could be a nice platform. Mbemba was phenomenal in the second half, towering header to clear it away from Pelle when Pelle was 6 yards out. Nice anticipation and looks comfortable on the ball. Was at fault for the first but also was unclear about positions of Colo and Janmaat. As the game went on, that improved. Kept a nice line in the second half, too. Decent movement in the attacking areas although we tried too hard to play it down the flanks without great wingers. Still not fast enough overall in our passing, got caught in possession too often against the high pressure of Southampton. But there were some good one-twos, Sissoko was excellent before fading, and you can see there is a lot of potential for improvement. Good game overall, would have taken a point at the beginning of the day, defence being what it was. Our preseason US chuckle fest didn't help. duo
Defo improvement on last season - can only see us getting better. Bench was the strong I've known it to be for a long time.
relámpago blanco
Its clearly they need to do work on fitness but I think that will come. I am reasonabky positive about the season but I feel well probably not start kicking on until october november time.

That's one of the things i was talking about when i said it's gonna take time, passing the ball with fluidity at a high tempo will be the last thing to come. But i believe it will eventually as long as McClaren makes the right personnel choices.
Dr Colossus
Wijnaldum's movement and energy were excellent until they weren't. More analysis of things like this, please. "Coloccini was one of our best centre backs until he wasn't."
Ryan
Pelle's a complete beast in the penalty area, everytime they put a cross into the box I was just waiting to see him power one past Krul. Mbemba did brilliantly with that one in the second half, if he missed that, Pelle would have bagged.
BlueStar
In the ground I thought we should have had about 8 penalties, presumably that wasn't the case with the benefit of replays?
nemtizz
Yoshida handball was stonewall, IMO.
Foluwashola
Pleasant change coming away from SJP having been mildly entertained. Some promising stuff, there was a spell in the 2nd half where we were actually playing football. Shocking stuff. Chancel looked quality, as did Wijnaldum. Ronaldo
Don't think that's true( about never has), he was shite today though. Or appetite for that matter, never minds getting stuck in. Even if he was shite today. He wants to get forward, he blatantly doesn't really like defending. That's just the way it is.
Foluwashola
Haidara wasn't shite like. Couple of misplaced passes in the 2nd half but decent overall. We do need an improved left back like. That ball Gabby put in for the 2nd btw. What a player.

Mole_Toonfan
Haidara wasn't s**** like. Couple of misplaced passes in the 2nd half but decent overall. We do need an improved left back like. That ball Gabby put in for the 2nd btw. What a player. Can't think of a single good thing he did tbh, most of his crosses were blocked and most of Southampton's threat came through him. joeyt
I thought Haidara was pretty poor first half. Felt like he was going to give the ball away to Tadic every time he got passed the ball
relámpago blanco
I would like to see Mitrovic start next week as I think he'll offer alot more against Swansea away as Cisse offers little other than a goal threat.
joeyt
Cisse scored twice against Swansea last year, I think he should definitely start

triggs
Fair play thats why I said goal threat. If he is scoring goals then it doesn't really matter what else he offers. Thought his general play was good second half anyway
Ronaldo
It was. His pass led to Obertan's assist for the second.
