All my Chelsea pals (or 'cockneys' if you've never left the NE) seem to rate him very highly. Not sure they'd accept us only paying 3% of his wages though Chelsea will probably advise him to stay away from the goldfish bowl.

I wonder how much truth is actually in that - it's difficult to accept that Abraham (regardless of what you perceive as his ability or character) would rather go to South Wales than us
mickthemagpie
Who do you believe though? It was first suggested that they wanted Abrahams to come to us to get used to playing in front of big crowds.

Can't believe in any of the other excuses like night life etc.

I've noticed his sniping for several months now. Aye, I know some people get really sensitive with journalists giving a bit of critisism, but over the years at times we have arguably deserved it But since we've been promoted hes done loads of negative articles regarding Newcaste, im pretty sure he said that Rafa was ready to walk not so long ago and because he took some stick from some fans on twitter he started biting, he seems to be getting worse. Seymour
That one's hardly a snipe though? It's not really no But plenty of teams apparantly wanted Sandro, but yet he mentions us? If this was his first time he had done it then I wouldnt have mentioned and just taken it as he was simply letting us know he was a target for Newcastle But when you look at the other articles he has a written about us and what he has said on twitter previously , it feels like another slight little dig

Guest ElCid
Everton are a better attraction than us. We have to realistic about the type of player we can attract. They (and I would probably say most of the premiership teams) are now thanks to the Ashley and his muppets as they certainly weren't before he bought the club. Chicane
We're talking about a generation of players now (up to about 22/23?) who will have only ever seen us as what we are under Ashley. Which is nothing impressive. One good season pretty much, twice relegated, involved in relegation battles more times on top of that, never competed for a trophy. Never even close. It's not much of an attraction.

Very true shows how s*** he was that I got his name mixed up and you suspect but that's speculatiion and they still chose us. I agree the early seeds were being sown by Shepherd but Ashley has taken into to a different level - so much so that I would say at least 75% of the clubs in the premiership are a more attractive option for players than we are currently.
