The pen was given for a stamp on attackers foot when ball was 50 yards away.

was it clear cut?

Couldn't really tell from highlights. Just incredible it was spotted when ball was in a neighbouring postcode

Clearly the linesman give the decision.

Quite. But it doesn't happen very often in that situation, non?

My arse is starting to twitch.

I felt worse before yesterdays game than after, if we can play like that for the rest of the season promotion will be no problem

I'm not surprised, we're only 8 points ahead of third - who have a game in hand - and have a goal difference which Huddersfield are never going to catch.

Absolutely, and I've been completely relaxed throughout the whole season. But, I still am. :)

Are they starting to give out bonus points?

I'm not prone to paranoia, but that doesn't mean the barstewards aren't out to get us! So wouldn't surprise me.

Not as bad as I thought, but then you only tend to recall the goals against that cost you points I suppose

Not as bad as I thought either, re late goals. Same selective memory possibly applies to penalties and other bizarro officiating (two rescinded reds in one game, giving a free kick to the oppo following encroachment at a converted penalty etc.). Anybody done the numbers on penalty decisions?

Be interesting to see that breakdown for Huddersfield and Brighton, Huddersfield in particular seem to have a knack of knocking in late goals to turn results, or at least that's what I recall.

Howcome you count the equaliser against Norwich when we went on to win but you don't count the equaliser against Brighton when we went on to win?

Rafa talked up the April 'mini-league' a lot. He was referring to us v Hudds. So far:

Newcastle P4 W2 D1 L1 7 points

Hudds P4 W2 D0 L2 6 points

We match their points total and we do it comfortably (with 2 games spare)

Maybe NUFC have just beaten all hope and optimism out of me over the last 38 years but I can't shake this horrible feeling we're going to mess it up.  Logically and objectively I know we're likely to make it but this club has a habit of breaking your heart in new and unexpected ways.
