Massive congrats to Hebburn on their promotion. The step up is probably the biggest between any two levels of the pyramid, it’s nuts. But some awesome day trips lie ahead!

Well done Spartans on getting over the line, huge rebuild job in the summer for Nashy.

Absolutely, very exciting times. Ironically there's probably an argument in all of this (i.e. the heightened drama) to keep it as one-up.

Hopefully whoever comes second gets the job done in the play-offs. York were in that position last year after only a marginally less impressive season.

You watching it, @John P?

Sorry just seen this. What a finish that was. Watched it on the TV with two of the school Dads who are both York fans. They were obviously devastated in the 95th minute, and I've not quite seen celebrations like it in the 104th minute [emoji38]. Great to see what it means to teams in the National League, absolutely chuffed for them. They deserved it too, should have won it in normal time. Might nip along to the bus parade on Tuesday [emoji38]

Aye, mentioned before that I saw them vs Dunston over the Easter weekend, they lost that game to a last minute winner, but absolutely battered Dunston in the first half and could have easily been 3 or 4-0 up at half time. They've gone on to win their next 5 matches since then. They'll be away to Emley in the final, but suspect they will start as favourites.

Shame both Stockton and Dunston lost. Always a tough match for Stockton against big budget Hednesford in front of a big crowd, but kind of feels Dunston have let things slip since Saturday, especially after given up home advantage in the playoffs following their loss to Pontefract.

8 North East teams in the NPLE next season - Morpeth, Dunston, Heaton, Consett, Ashington, Blyth S, Guisborough and one of either Shildon or West Auckland. Stockton, Whitby and Redcar Ath in the the leage above

Guisborough are my local team and I go to watch them a few times a season, so buzzing they’ve gone up. Mixing it with the big boys now!

First time they've ever been a step 4 club I believe. Well done to them. I've been there once Enjoyed it. Nice people there.

Scunthorpe 1 Southend 0 in the National playoff quarter final, so Scunthorpe play Rochdale on Sunday in the 2nd semi final. Ex mag Callum Roberts with the goal. Maybe a bit of an upset despite them being at home as Southend had been in better form, finished only one point behind but a better goal difference of +21 (+36 vs +15), and goal difference is often a good indicator. I think Rochdale will be happy with that. Carlisle will learn their opponents tomorrow night.

Buxton 4 Scarborough 2 in the National North playoff, so Buxton away to South Shields on Saturday in the semi final. Kidderminster's opponent will be determined tomorrow.

Will help all with budgets you would think - less traveling. But - they will all be fighting for the same players.

Yeah, it's an interesting conundrum, probably higher gates as well generally. Maybe not so much Ashington vs say Newton Aycliffe, but Blyth Town certainly wouldn't be getting 2,200 like they got vs Spartans against a Silsden or something. So higher local interest, more away fans, less travelling as you say, more chance to get a match on at 7.45 on Friday night to avoid clashing with Newcastle the next day and so on, so overall it is a lot more healthier the more local teams in that league, but then more competition for players, managers etc.

There's actually a net loss in terms of teams, there were 9 this year, Redcar have effectively replaced Morpeth, but 3 sides went down, but only 2 will come up. Geographically, Redcar and Guisborough are kind of equivalents, likewise Shildon/West Auckland and Bishop Auckland as they are all in about 5 miles of each other, so it's just really losing Blyth Town from a travel perspective. Morpeth obviously closer to the likes of Ashington and Spartans, plus will be a 'Northumberland' (or Northumberland FA) clash with Heaton.

A shame that Blyth T and Bishops both dropped. At one stage, it looked like all 4 relegation spots could be filled by North East sides, but towards the end, it looked like 3 West Yorkshire sides might have dropped in Brighouse, Ossett and Silsden, so that is a bit disappointing, but at least 2 are coming up as Kendal, as previously discussed, would have been the the Step 4 West equivalent had they made, and came up, through the playoffs which would have been a wasted spot from a NE perspective.

Brighouse got a reprieve from relegation last year and the year before, but doesn't look like Bishop Auckland will be as lucky this year.

Was it Brighouse that were saved when North Shields were booted out, over ground issues a few years back?

Na, that was the year prior. 2 years ago they were reprieved due to Marske dropping from step 3 to step 5, and last year they got a reprieve due to Farsley demoted a few leagues and they had the most points out of other teams in contention in other leagues, or something like that. I heard somewhere that Bishop Auckland were 5th in line for a reprieve across the whole leagues, so if true, that's very unlikely.

I'll probably buy a pass as I'll not be at either Shields or Carlisle home semi final, but can see an option for 14.99 or 19.99 but font really know the difference. I don't mind paying that as you'll get the finals as well, whoever makes it, and Carlisle is about £23 these days to go anyway.

I was debating going to either Carlisle, Shields or the Northern League playoff final at Shildon, but after 8 non league matches over the past 4 weekends I've decided against it.

I will go to SJP for the Senior Cup final on Tuesday though between Heaton and Whitley.

Shildon 1-0 up at at half time to West Auckland, so will be joining those whole host of North East clubs in the NPL East as it stands.

South Shields semi final with Buxton about to start in 5 mins on DAZN. Winner to play Kidderminster in the final.

Shildon 1 West Auckland 2 FT.

West with a 95th minute penalty winner after equalising in the 80th. A 3rd year in a row Shildon have finished 2nd but failed in the playoffs.

South Shields won 1-0. Better in the second half, but a very nervy end, Buxton with another goal ruled out towards the end, hit the inside of the post, and then had one cleared off the line.

They are at home to Kidderminster in the final next Saturday.
