The way they seed the group stages to keep apart the 'bigger' clubs is the worst part of it all.

Who cares if Barca, Juve, Man City and Bayern are drawn in a group together? It'd be more interesting.

To be fair it stops games like Leicester vs Genk for example happening in the last 16 or 8. Groups may be more interesting at the expense of the knockout phase. Depending on the quality of your team you could also have the competition practically won after the group stage if you were to knockout 2 of your biggest rivals early on.

Also smaller European clubs make more money when drawn with the big clubs and major attractions.

Leicester v Genk in the last 8 is the exact reason why they should scrap that crap seeding.

Were you mortified at Lincoln making it to the quarter final of the FA Cup like? Shall we seed the FA Cup so we can watch Man City v Chelsea in the final every year? Or did you enjoy to see them do well and knock out PL teams?

whats wrong with leicester vs genk in the last 8?

Not half as interesting as Barca vs Real in the last 8 for example.

Personally I like seeing the biggest and best teams fight it out late on in the competition. For a quarter or more of them to go out at the group stage because of an unlucky draw would suck in my opinion.

Also unfrotunately from a pure financial perspective UEFA will always want the big teams in the late rounds if possible. Loads more people will be hyped for a Bayern vs Real quarter final than a Leicester vs Genk one and more would tune in, etc. The biggest games with the biggest and best teams are just more attractive to most.

Why isn't there loads of comments from people here discussing the Europa League games tonight if they apparently prefer watching more interesting match ups?

Can always rely on me and joeyt lurking around the other games thread

Spot on. If all the big teams take each other out in the FA Cup, it opens up chances for other clubs. Nobody is asking for seeding there.

Yet with the CL, as its a TV competition, people seem to want the same clubs filtered into the latter stages and watch the same clubs win.

Because I'm watching the games not posting.

Wasn't aimed at you as you've already said you're a fan of the Europa League
