He could only make that definitive of a statement if he had no intention of ever selling in the first place. So why the 3 month charade? He couldn't give a f*** what we all think and feel so why pretend you want to sell when you know there's nobody will pay the sum it would take? What was to be gained? Surely not just to mask lack of investment in January? Even by the fat c***s standards, this is incredible.

Wish he would just walk. What's the point of having Rafa here then feeding him scraps so he can struggle to keep us up each season. What's the point of that. He should just leave so this shit tip of a club can just fucking implode and we can all just get back to hating it.

Without jumping off the bridge yet, perhaps Ashley told him the Takeover (based on offers on the table) would not go through. But he may also have told him of the alleged/imaginary offers from elsewhere, so Rafa still had no real need to panic.

Also, Rafa may/may not be ion contact with Staveley, so she may be telling him she isn't going away without a trying again.

Still, doesn't excuse Ashley ignoring the transfer window until Tuesday gone, if in his mind he wasn't selling for the current offer(s) from PCP.

EDIT: Just seen tweet from Raisbeck, which could put that spin above on it, hence why rafa wasn't panicking, if the allusion was the takeover may still happen after this month.

Read something on a website this afternoon about Staveley now looking at Leeds as a potential takeover. Probably a load of s****.

Probably BS, but a club like Leeds would be a good alternative if you wanted to buy a famous football club which was under performing. Big city, passionate fan base...not Newcastle, but maybe an owner who is prepared to sell.

Dunno if it's been posted but there some more quotes from PCP here: http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11678/11212919/amanda-staveley-remains-keen-to-buy-newcastle-united

Also mentions two other bids for £350m.

Other bids from people who've not done due diligence? Aye, righto.

Just asking, but does inventing rival bids during a takeover amount to fraud?

So the players we’re chasing, we’ve been quoted the price and Rafa believes we have the money to pay it. This isn’t going to end well is it.

Could be that Rafa is just aiming incredibly low this time because he knows the club will never get the players he actually wants.

Question was about ownership of the club and who/where transfer money would come from this month... He answered by saying he knew 3-4 weeks ago a takeover wouldn't be done by now
