Been working there today, fucking hell, according to some of the lercals they will soon be back in the big time making it 7 in a row and we must all be jealous as we still have Ashley. Short is now a great blerk too. Lots of mackemtracking over Mic MAC as well who is one of them and has unfinished business there.

How can they get 7 in a row when the last game between the two teams ended in a draw?

It's around that. Can be a fair bit more for top players, and a fair bit less, but that's around the the average.

League One really is a whole different ecosystem to the Championship. Most players are on between 1 and 2 year deals, and players very rarely move around for transfer fees.

Size of the club and matchday revenue is everything at that level. Even if the new owners have very little finance behind them it would take serious mismanagement for Sunderland to not finish in the top two next season.

Like the last 10 years maybe?

Talking about the players that they'll have eating into the wagebill, it's only really Cattermole and Rodwell which are the issue, which is manageable.

Most of the rest of their squad are out of contract or on loan, and they'll be able to shift all of the others that aren't IMO.

I know it's nice to think about them struggling again, but I'd be stunned if they don't come straight back up. Getting out of the Championship again could easily be 10 years away though.

just looked at RTg- turns out they are the new Man City

On the basis of this:

https://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport/football/sunderland-afc/stewart-donald-reveals-substantial-investment-in-sunderland-once-takeover-is-complete-1-9143153

He's actually talking about putting around £10m into the consortium that he's now a 'major player' in, which is a substantial amount for him, but a pittance in football terms.

Who's going to be their main rivals? Blackpool look as though they could be a big player, Charlton if they don't come up, Luton maybe...

  They're a strange bunch like.

Their billionaire owner who had enough money to cover their operating losses out of his own pocket has been replaced by bloke who has been trying, unsuccessfully for years, to buy promotion from the conference.

Cue unbridled rejoicing on Wearside  :idiot2:

They seem to be suffering from some sort of collective form of bipolar disorder. There's going to be a crashing low for them when reality hits.

They're an odd bunch the mackems, after all they've been through they don't seem to have developed an ounce of healthy skepticism.

The S*n says the consortium want Sewpa Kev to take charge. I particularly like:

Phillips is relatively inexperienced, with just a spell at Leicester before he went to Derby. But his ‘magic’ would draw fans and give him time

This 'magic' sounds canny special and reliable.
