duo
To be fair we were the better side in 1st half and players just lost their way when 1st goal went in. Score flattered Arsenal. Didn't understand the Boos at the end.

Guest Howaythetoon
To be fair we were the better side in 1st half and players just lost their way when 1st goal went in. Score flattered Arsenal. Didn't understand the Boos at the end. First half we threatened more, but it was fairly even. They were quite comfortable. Second half we just didn’t turn up and they did just about enough without getting out of first gear after they scored. There was no urgency from us or tempo, like we resigned ourselves to a defeat and played the game out so as not to lose by more. Arsenal, ere more than happy to see the game out themselves. Overall though, we were poor and there can be zero positives taken from this game in terms of our play. Pressing, working hard, running around, getting a few corners etc. is not something to write home about. It’s routine stuff, the basics. My worry is we don’t have anything about us at the moment. We just look all huff and puff and where we made up for the lack of quality in terms of individuals last season by being a team better collectively it’s the opposite now. We are back to the Pardew and Carver days of hoping one of our better players does something or we nick a goal from a set piece. On,y our better players are only marginally better than our poor players. None of the new players look like they will improve us or make a difference like Dubravka and Kennedy did when they joined on loan back in January. It’s early days for the new players of course, but I don’t hold any hope really. What saddened me is how easy it was for Arsenal once they scored and that’s a bad sign because they are not a good team, Cardiff gave them a tougher match and exposed lots of their weaknesses where as we didn’t. Blame Ashley as ultimately we are what we are because of him, blame the players for not being good enough because they aren’t, but Rafa is to blame too because whatever he and his staff are doing on the training pitch with these players just isn’t working and won’t if whatever it is they do doesn’t change. It’s not our shape off the ball that’s wrong, our work rate, team spirit or defensive organisation, it’s our passing, our movement, our play on the ball, our off the ball running. Confidence effects decision making and that is evident, but we are such a poor football team on the ball and so static in terms of movement and positioning other than when we drop into a defensive shape, we will struggle to even draw games never mind win. Again, I trust Rafa to find a solution, but this season is a total write off and all about trying to just stay up all the way to the end now. Whether we stay up or not will be down to Rafa IMO and as good as he is, I’m not sure he will keep us up. I wouldn’t like to put any money on him doing so put it that way. But, that’s what happens when you don’t improve the team and therefore field a team consisting of 8 or more players that were playing in the Championship a year or so back. Let’s not forget the teams we have played so far either. It’s been a tough start and even if we were had a good side I don’t think we would have picked up much more points than we have at all. As ever it’s the performances that worry me and the form of players and we are piss poor right now, individually and as a team and if Rafa were a player, he’d be piss poor right now as well. Wallsendmag
got a free ticket today and still feel robbed. Ashley's NUFC. I've been offered free tickets for the last 2 home games and knocked them both back. Surprised how easy it's been to lose the bug after not renewing my season ticket in the summer. huss9
hopefully with shelvey, ritchie and rondon getting to full fitness there's a chance of starting with all 3 fot the first time. our season starts now.

AyeDubbleYoo
Surely it’s just the impossible fixtures? No way we can actually be worse.

Guest chopey
Just feels like we are going through the motions, we'll be safe this season because there are 3 teams worse than us but next season will just be rinse and repeat with a lot less Rafa and a lot less fans. Dave
Centre half crossing for centre half to score from open play can't happen too often.

tinoasprilla
No way will Brighton go down. We need to play our best eleven every week the same as we did the end of last season. Playing joselu and Murphy ahead of Rondon and Kennedy is asking for trouble

ToonArmy1892
Rafa will get it wrong from time to time, it's inevitable, he's not infallible. However there is only one person to blame, if there was investment in the team then he wouldn't be working within such fine margins. Better teams can afford to make small mistakes and still win, one wrong sub, tactic, starting player or a sub made a few minutes too late for us will likely cost us the game. It's ok to be annoyed at the incorrect decisions being made but make no mistake if it wasn't for Ashley those mistakes wouldn't be costly. Be annoyed at the players/tactics but direct all your blame and ire at Ashley. Perfectly put.
Stottie
didn't attend again, watched on tv. thought we played ok in the first half and deserved to be marginally ahead without ever looking great, Arsenal were terrible and as expected surely couldn't be any worse in the second half? a needles challenge by Fernandez changed it, perfect distance for a free kick and bang, goal. soon 2 and that was game over, no inspiration from anywhere both on and off the pitch to get back into it , the whole thing was piss poor. Murphy yet again was a let down, how much did we pay for him? Hayden offers nothing and the rest were pretty powder puff, the crowd were dead and the fact i hardly raised my finger when we scored sums it all up..........i'm trying not to panic but i see a long time before we win a game and this could just be another Ashley relegation. Rafa didn't have a great day today but i won't go into that for fear of being hounded. Bad day all round AGAIN. A fair summary of what I saw. The loss of composure from gifting them one resulted in repeated loss of possession till we gave them another one. We then had nowhere near enough to get back in the game. It was bad enough for me to switch over to the cycling. Its going to be a long season and we are going all our best players out there because others are relegation material. Without Rafa's organization, the best ones would be too.
mighty__mag
He'll do what he always does, wait until around December when we are ultimately going down. Then do some sort of gamble by chucking 50m at Rafa to stay and get some faces through the door to avoid the drop. Let's face it, it's the only reason Benitez is actually here now, because that fat cock likes a gamble, only thing was he didn't act quick enough to remove McLaren and Benitez couldn't work a miracle with a squad of players who by that time had already given up, and a 20 year old Jamaal Lascelles was the only player concerned. The thing is though Rafa wouldn't fall for it a second time surely? Would he?

NUFC_Chris
Really missed having Lejeune and Lascelles partnering each other thus far thus season imo. We’re leaking goals we’d otherwise have kept out. I don’t think we’ve seen the togetherness in the squad from last season either. Shelvey Lejeune and Lascelles were two linchpin’s that obviously due to injury we’ve missed. We really aren’t creating enough chances either. Time to get things right still but it is worrying. Altamullan
That is our best pairing, but nobody is stopping Walker’s thunderbastard, or the free kick yesterday. Could argue we might not have given the opportunity, especially stupid foul yesterday. We’ve conceded 8 in five, same as Man Utd. Only scored four—same as three other teams and there are only three who’ve scored less. That is, and was always going to be, our primary problem this season. Hopefully, goals for will look rosier when we’ve played a few more of our ‘equals’ and fingers crossed Rondon and Muto start impressing in training.
